Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal Inspects UET Infrastructure Projects, Approves New Developments.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, visited the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, where he was warmly received by Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir. During the visit, the Federal Minister thoroughly reviewed the ongoing development projects at UET and its sub-campuses. He inspected the construction work underway at the university’s hostels, academic buildings, and other infrastructure, and granted approval for several new initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Iqbal stated, “UET will be developed into Pakistan’s premier research center, equipped with centers of excellence and high-quality, modern laboratories, so that its graduates can continue to bring pride to the nation on a global level.” He further emphasized the global importance of engineering education and the pivotal role engineers play in the development and progress of any country. Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir remarked,

“The Minister’s visit is an honor for us. Ahsan Iqbal has always shown a special interest in the development of UET. We are hopeful that the university’s budget will be increased this year, enabling us to materialize the planned welfare and development projects.” Campus Coordinator UET Narowal Dr. Shahbaz, PRO Dr. Tanveer Qasim, and Project Director Narowal Sarmad Riaz were also present at this occasion. However, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, HEC Member Mr. Naveed Shah, and Vice Chancellor of University of Narowal Dr. Muhammad Younas participated via video link. At the end, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir thanked the Federal Minister for his visit and appreciated his ongoing efforts.

Symposium on Biomedical Engineering 5.0: Innovations, Insights & Immersive Training at UET Lahore.

The one-day Symposium on *Emerging Trends and Opportunities in Biomedical Engineering*, held at UET Lahore New Campus on 10th April, 2025, was a dynamic gathering of innovation and intellect catering over 120 attendees. The event was chaired by Dr. Nida Iqbal (Chairperson, Department of Biomedical Engineering) and event secretary, Dr. Ahsan Naeem.

Honored with the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Shoaib and Campus Coordinator Dr. Shahid Imran, the symposium featured impactful keynotes: Dr. Rashid Mazhar (Senior Consultant, Hamad General Hospital, Qatar) emphasized global clinical advancements; Dr. Muhammad Asad Ullah Khan (Assistant Professor, BME, UET Narowal) explored biomechanics and sports tech; and Mr. Abdul Basit (Biomedical Industrialist) shared insights from hospital project management.

A futuristic presentation on the BIOMED 5.0 initiative was delivered by Dr. Ahsan Naeem (Assistant Professor, Mechatronics), followed by an immersive CPR training session using Augmented Reality, led by Dr. Ali (Chairperson, Mechatronics) and Dr. Ahsan. The event concluded with an award ceremony, acknowledging all contributors who made the day a true celebration of Biomedical Engineering 5.0.

31st Convocation of UET Lahore – Degrees Awarded to 2,676 Students

This year, degrees were awarded to 1,847 undergraduate, 764 MSc/MPhil, and 65 PhD students.

46 students received 71 gold medals for outstanding academic performance.

The 31st convocation of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore was held, during which degrees were awarded to 2,676 students from the main and sub-campuses. Among them were 1,847 undergraduates, 764 MSc/MPhil, and 65 PhD graduates. In recognition of exceptional academic achievements, 46 students were awarded a total of 71 gold medals.

The convocation was presided over by the Governor of the Punjab and Chancellor of UET, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan. Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir delivered the welcome address, highlighting the university’s achievements in academics and research, and outlining future goals and planning. He stated that UET graduates are a valuable asset to Pakistan and play a vital role in the country's progress and development. He congratulated the successful students, attributing their success to the efforts of their parents and teachers, and urged them to always respect them.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Punjab congratulated the graduating students and noted that UET and the field of engineering have a legacy spanning over a century. He credited the rapid development of the country to the contributions of UET engineers. He also praised the university’s consistent improvement in both international and Asian rankings, attributing this success to the merit-based appointment of the Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir and his team.

Sardar Saleem Haider Khan appealed to the graduates to support the government in addressing major challenges such as poverty, water crises, environmental pollution, and natural disasters through sustainable efforts. He also emphasized that the IT sector in Pakistan presents an exceptional opportunity for social and economic prosperity.

Parents of the graduating students appeared overjoyed at their children's achievements. At the end of the convocation, the Vice Chancellor presented a commemorative shield to Sardar Saleem Haider Khan. In the final moments, students expressed their joy by tossing their graduation caps into the air.

UET Lahore Announces Its 31st Convocation Ceremony – April 14, 2025.

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore proudly announces its 31st Convocation, set to take place on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 09:30 AM in the UET Auditorium Complex. This momentous occasion will celebrate the academic achievements of graduates from Session 2020, as well as Architecture Session 2019, along with students who have successfully completed their degrees in MBA, M.Sc., MS, MPhil, and Ph.D. between November 20, 2023, and April 14, 2025.

Rehearsal Details:
To ensure a smooth and well-organized convocation ceremony, a mandatory rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same venue. Graduates are required to attend the rehearsal to familiarize themselves with the event proceedings.

One-Day Workshop on “Building the Future: Architecture Under STEM – Nanotechnology’s Impact on Sustainable Architecture held at UET Lahore.

The Faculty Development Program (FDP), UET Lahore, in collaboration with the Departments of Architecture and Chemistry Departments, successfully hosted a transformative one-day workshop on “Building the Future: Architecture Under STEM – Nanotechnology’s Impact on Sustainable Architecture.” The event brought together experts, faculty members, and students to explore the groundbreaking role of nanotechnology in sustainable architecture. The workshop featured plenary lectures followed by hands-on training in the Advanced Nanotechnology Research Lab (Chemistry Department) and DoT Research Lab (Architecture Department)—a true testament to the power of interdisciplinary collaboration in STEM.

The Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, in his closing remarks, congratulated Prof. Dr. Aneela Anwar, Incharge, Faculty Development Program, UET Lahore and Dr. Quratulain Asghar, Acting Chair, Architecture Department, for organizing this impactful event. He emphasized that interdisciplinary research is the need of the hour, highlighting that nanotechnology in architecture is an emerging field with immense potential for sustainable and smart building solutions.

He further stressed the importance of bridging gaps between disciplines and pushing the boundaries of innovation through interdisciplinary research in various fields. Faculty members from UET Lahore, other prestigious universities, and enthusiastic students actively participated, making this event a resounding success. The session concluded with the distribution of certificates, reinforcing the commitment to continued interdisciplinary collaboration in shaping the future of sustainable architecture.
