Northern lights (aurora borealis) —
The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, are a natural light show in the sky, appearing as dancing curtains or streaks of vibrant color near the Earth's magnetic poles. They form when charged particles from the Sun (solar wind) collide with gases in Earth's upper atmosphere, exciting the atoms and releasing energy as light, primarily green, pink, red, or blue, depending on the gas and altitude.
