Have you ever thought about what it really means to live off-grid? đđż
In one of the The Diary Of A CEO a former CIA agent Andrew Bustamante spoke about how governments maintain controlânot just through laws, but through the systems we rely on every day.
That got me thinking:
- What happens when the power goes out, as it recently did in Portugal?
- Or what if you suddenly lost internet connection?
If youâre like meâworking mostly onlineâyou realize quickly how dependent weâve become. We donât grow our own food, we donât generate our own electricity, weâre not set up to provide for ourselves.
Convenience has replaced self-sufficiency. đ°
But some people are making a different choice.
đ©âđŸ Like Nadia Denise Duinker, whoâseven months pregnantâsold everything in Amsterdam and bought the ruins of a small village in Portugal. She and her family wanted a life closer to nature, more aligned with their values.
Together, theyâve turned that abandoned space into Freedom Ville Portugal : a boutique retreat focused on healing, connection, and sustainability. đżâš
đ„ Inspired by their story, Szymon and I traveled to Portugal to explore whatâs really behind it.
The full documentary is still in the works, but weâve already gathered some reflections weâd like to share.
This isnât just a story about going off-grid.
Itâs about taking a step back and asking:
âĄïž If everything stopped working tomorrowâwhat would you rebuild?
And more importantly,
âĄïžWould you rebuild it the same way⊠or make it reflect your values?
