Pov - you're just a shark, minding your own business 🦈

In the ocean, where you've lived since before trees were on land 🤯

Sharks are fascinating, diverse, highly evolved creatures. There are over 500 species of shark, with new species being discovered each year!

I could happily spend a lifetime drawing these beautiful animals. (And probably never finish)

Sharks that glow in the dark, sharks that have evolved to be the biggest fish in our oceans, sharks that have hammers for heads, and whips for tails. And even sharks that may live up to 500 years.

Each one of them totally mesmerising ✨️

So happy shark month, and let's rethink the narrative on these incredible animals 🦈

There's been some interesting comments and misunderstanding about shark populations and I cant reply to everyone individually. On a global scale, oceanic shark and ray populations have fallen by over 70% in just 50 years. This is a terrifying statistic, as sharks are essential for a healthy balanced ecosystem. The language used around them in the media is extremely negative and reinforces the narrative of them being mindless monsters - people have to first have an interest in something to love and protect it, and sharks need protection. Connotations in language are important, as are your words, and the words you consume. Be kind, and maybe learn more about these amazing animals - there's plenty of organisations out there with amazing resources, let me know if you want more info!
