As someone who used to hate running… I never thought I’d be the person signing up for a race, let alone enjoying it. Here’s 5 things that changed my perspective on running:
1. You prove to yourself you can do hard things
you don’t have to love it to start… you just have to show up and be patient with your progress. Finishing runs you once thought you couldn’t builds a different kind of confidence
2. The right people make it easier to keep going
When you have people who run at your pace, encourage you, and show up for you, it changes everything. You realize that you don’t have to do it alone. And if you don’t know anyone that runs… join a run club! Chances are you will meet people of all kinds of running levels :)
3. Learning how to fuel your body changes everything
Once you stop being scared of carbs and actually eat to perform, your runs feel so much stronger. Loveee me some rice cake, PB, and honey before a run 😌
4. It becomes more metal than physical
Running teaches you how to push through discomfort, quiet your thoughts, and stay present - and that carries into every part of your life
5. It gives you clarity and gratitude
Being outside, moving your body, taking everything in… it grounds you. You start to feel more grateful, more present, and more at peace.
If you’ve been thinking about starting… this is your sign
You don’t have to be fast, you don’t have to be perfect - you just have to start ♥️
