The Israeli Knesset’s “Security Committee” is discussing today, Monday, the draft “Prisoners’ Ex*****on Law,” in preparation for a vote scheduled for next Wednesday, after a parliamentary committee approved it in late September in a preliminary reading.

The law is part of the coalition agreements reached between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and “Jewish Power” party leader Itamar Ben-Gvir at the end of 2022. It stipulates “the imposition of the death penalty on anyone who intentionally or through negligence causes the death of an Israeli citizen out of hatred, racism, or intent to harm Israel.”

The bill has been repeatedly proposed over the years and was reintroduced by Ben-Gvir in 2022, gaining preliminary approval in March 2023.

The occupation destroys Gaza’s digital infrastructure, causing losses exceeding $2.6 billion

The Israeli occupation has destroyed around 74% of communication towers and 50% of the public network in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, leading to a near-total shutdown of internet and communication services both internally and externally. This destruction has caused losses to the Palestinian digital economy exceeding $2.6 billion, including damage to equipment and the loss of thousands of technology-related jobs.
The blockade has further worsened the crisis, as Gaza still relies solely on 2G networks, while newer generations remain banned, deepening the region’s digital isolation from the world.
الاحتلال يدمر البنية التحتية الرقمية في غزة ويكبّد الاقتصاد خسائر تفوق 2.6 مليار دولار

دمّر الاحتلال الإسرائيلي نحو 74% من أبراج الاتصالات و50% من الشبكة العامة في قطاع غزة منذ بداية الحرب، ما أدى إلى شلل شبه كامل في خدمات الإنترنت والاتصالات داخليًا وخارجيًا. وأسفر هذا التدمير عن خسائر في الاقتصاد الرقمي الفلسطيني تجاوزت 2.6 مليار دولار، شملت تدمير المعدات وفقدان آلاف الوظائف التقنية.
كما ساهم الحصار في تفاقم الأزمة، إذ تعتمد غزة على شبكات الجيل الثاني فقط، فيما يُمنع إدخال الأجيال الأحدث، ما يعمّق العزلة الرقمية عن العالم.
