E DA GASTRONOMIA REGIONAL

O arquipélago em si é rico na sua gastronomia regional e isso não há dúvidas de que na ilha come-se bem, muito bem até, comida rica em sabor, tal como deve ser.

Contudo, Câmara de Lobos destaca-se em muitos pormenores, acima de tudo pela sua vila pescatória, de onde saiem os valentes pescadores com a sua arte pioneira na pesca ao peixe-espada-preto e outros.

Mas também a gastronomia passa pela famosa espetada acompanhada de milho frito, bolo do caco e, sem esquecer, a afamada poncha e Nikita (com e sem álcool).

Na História, Câmara de Lobos f**a marcada por algumas razões fundamentais: foi a moradia oficial de João Gonçalves Zarco, um dos descobridores da Madeira; a visita de Winston Churchill onde viria a pintar a baía numa das suas telas; os barcos xavelhas; Cabo Girão assinalado como o cabo mais alto da Europa com 580m de altura, possuindo um miradouro de vidro, Skywalker; a sua fantástica e incomparável baía.

THE CAPITAL OF FISHERMEN
AND REGIONAL GASTRONOMY

The archipelago itself is rich in its regional cuisine and there is no doubt that on the island you can eat well, very well, food rich in flavor, just as it should be.

However, Câmara de Lobos stands out in many ways, above all for its fishing village, where brave fishermen come from with their pioneering art in fishing for black scabbardfish and others.

But gastronomy also includes the famous espetada accompanied by fried corn, bolo do caco and, without forgetting, the famous poncha and Nikita.

In history, Câmara de Lobos is marked by some fundamental reasons: it was the official home of João Gonçalves Zarco, one of the discoverers of Madeira; the visit of Winston Churchill where he painted the bay on one of his canvas; the xavelha boats; Cabo Girão marked as the highest cape in Europe at 580m high; its beautiful bay.
