🇨🇦 Canada’s terroir is defined by its extreme climate, glacial soils and strong regional diversity.
🌀 Climate
Predominantly cool-climate, influenced by:
🔹Great Lakes (Ontario)
🔹Okanagan & Skaha Lakes (BC)
🔹Atlantic Ocean currents (Nova Scotia)
🔹Wide diurnal shifts → freshness, purity and natural acidity.
⛰️ Soils
British Columbia: glacial deposits, sand, silt, volcanic and granite influences.
Ontario: limestone, clay, shale — ideal for Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay.
Nova Scotia: marine sediments, slate, sand — excellent for sparkling wine.
📍Latitude & Elevation
42°–50° N → similar to Burgundy, Champagne and Northern Italy.
Okanagan vineyards often exceed 500–600m in elevation → cooler nights, refined structure.
