I returned to Sintra in Portugal this week and was shocked by how much it had changed. Tourism in this part of Portugal has exploded. I’m glad to see the community is demanding a more sustainable approach to its tourism.

Before Cop29 opened, one of the key members of the Azerbaijan government’s organising team was filmed appearing to offer help striking fossil fuel deals. Azerbaijan’s president, Ilham Aliyev, also remarked at the opening ceremony that his country’s oil and gas were “a gift of God”. 😱

Future UN climate summits should be held only in countries that can show clear support for climate action and have stricter rules on fossil fuel lobbying, according to a group of influential climate policy experts

Cannizaro Park in Wimbledon has one of the most diverse collections of trees in Greater London. There are over 200 species in the Park and right now the autumn colours are stunning.🍁🍂 My photos can’t do it justice.

More than 30 trees in the Park have been recognised as ‘Champions’ for Greater London by The Tree Register of the British Isles (TROBI) in their extensive database, which means that they are the tallest and/or have the thickest trunks (largest girth) of their species. Two of these are of national significance.

With Friends of the Earth at the Restore Nature Now March 💪Thousands of people marched through central London to urge political leaders to take more decisive action in tackling the UK’s wildlife crisis.

The protest on Saturday culminated in a rally outside Parliament Square with speeches from prominent figures including the naturalists Chris Packham and Steve Backshall, and poetry readings and performances from Billy Bragg and Feargal Sharkey.

Proud that we managed to put this debate on in collaboration with a few weeks ago ahead of the GLA Elections yesterday 💪 I hope those of you here in the UK all voted on May 2nd! I am often astounded that many women don’t vote after Emily Davison died so us women can vote today!

For a long time I used to despair that we couldn’t make a difference unless we had a GLOBAL planet authority or global governance to tackle climate change and protect the environment. But working for for the past two years has shown me how even just doing things on a local level and on a grass roots level can still make a BIG difference.

Eventually it is through collective actions, even ones that are local or small, that still will add to that bigger movement. It is contagios! Like the natural murmuration of birds in the sky…. Just waiting for that to happen to us one day. 🤞🏼
