Swedish melodic death metal legends Gates of Ishtar to return with first new album in 29 years, “Murder the Light”.

“After nearly three decades, Gates of Ishtar return,” the band stated regarding the upcoming release. “This January we will release our first album since 1998. The circle comes to an end, and it had to happen in Finland! The 11th and final piece of "Nordic Embryogenesis", the upcoming work by Spaniards AVULSED, resurrects ABHORRENCE. It's the legendary pre-AMORPHIS formation, with 'Pestilential Mists', a brutal track taken from their 1990 7”EP.
AVULSED brings this Finnish death metal gem into their own territory, retaining all its crushing heaviness and that dark, cavernous sound that still sounds as beastly as it did more than three decades ago.

Falkenbach have agreed to deliver their first ever live performance with a world-exclusive show in the Balve Cave at the 2027 Prophecy Festival edition scheduled for September 2-4, 2027.

The German pagan metal act have released six highly acclaimed albums during their more than 30-year-spanning career and truly deserves the label "cult" as they have accumulated a massive fanbase without ever playing live.

The pre-sale for Prophecy Fest 2027 passes will begin exclusively today in the Balve Cave at the merch desk. Online pre-sale will start on Monday, September 7, 2026 at 00:01 CEST.

Osmose Productions has announced October 30th as the release date for Radbraker's debut album, "When the mist falls...", which will be available in all the usual physical formats.

Radbraker bring life from the countryside. Where things are blunt, harsh, and honest as hammer and axe. This can be felt throughout the album. First track premiere to be revealed on October 1st.

Iron Maiden announce two special limited edition colour vinyl anniversary releases.
- Limited edition "Somewhere in Time" 40th anniversary colour vinyl release date 4th December
- Limited edition "50th anniversary studio album collection part 1 1980-1992" colour vinyl box release date 11th december.

Forty years since the release of Iron Maiden’s multi-million selling sixth album, "Somewhere in Time", the appreciation and acclaim for its groundbreaking songs and production continues to grow. Featuring many songs which Iron Maiden have included in their live set in recent years, including ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Caught Somewhere In Time’, ‘Stranger In A Strange Land’, ‘Heaven Can Wait’ and the epic ‘Alexander The Great’, it saw the band reach new heights around the world, setting them up to soon become the biggest metal band on the planet.
To celebrate its fortieth anniversary, "Somewhere In Time" will be reissued on limited edition Oxblood colour vinyl, featuring the 2015 audio remastering. There will be a special Amazon variant that comes with an exclusive full sleeve poster.

In further celebrations that tie into Iron Maiden’s 50th anniversary since their formation, and reflecting the songs the band have been performing on their two-year Run For Your Lives Tour, a brand new vinyl box-set of their first nine studio albums will be released in December. Northern Irish Pagan Metal pioneers Waylander will return on November 6th with their new album, "Mac Tíre - Son of the Land". The nine-track record draws from Ireland's landscapes, mythology and cultural heritage, continuing the band's long-standing blend of extreme metal, traditional Irish instrumentation and Pagan themes.
Surely for fans of Skyclad, Eluveitie and Korpiklaani.

Alongside the announcement, WAYLANDER have unveiled “Macha”, the album's first single, with an official video. The song is dedicated to the ancient Goddess Macha, whose connection to the band is both mythological and personal. Both Ard Chieftain O’Hagan’s hometown and the county where WAYLANDER originate carry her name.

After 17 years away Australian extreme music legends The Berzerker returned to the stage on August 22nd for the Necrosonic Festival, held at the famous Mansfield Tavern in Brisbane. The band received a predictably frenzied welcome from the assembled fans and were forced to temporarily halt the show during a blistering version of 'The Deception' as a fan was knocked unconscious. Medical assistance was on hand and once the fan was taken to safety the band were able to continue with a decimating set.

After the show the band commented:
"We had to stop the show mid-set after a fan was knocked out in the pit. Luckily she's okay. Please look after each other at our shows - go as hard as you want, but we want you all going home safe."

“At The Gallows of Doom” portrays the life of someone condemned to misery, exclusion, and suffering from birth, as if their fate had already been decided before they ever had the chance to choose their own path.

The Finnish Gothenburg-style melodic death metal band Morbid Intent are set to release their debut EP Marionettes later in 2026 via Inverse Records. The second single 'Vitriol Shards' was just unleashed and it's accompanied by a music video which can be seen on YouTube.

The band comments:
"Vitriol Shards is diving into the destructive power of toxic words, psychological violence and bitterness. The track portrays how hatred and poisoned communication can shatter into fragments that slowly corrode the human mind, piece by piece."
