Normalizing the "No War, No Peace" Situation Threatens Regional Stability, and Dialogue Is the Only Option to Address Crises: MOFA

Source- X/

Doha -The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of the dangers of normalizing the "no war, no peace" situation currently prevailing in the region, stressing that this situation represents a continuous drain on the capabilities of peoples and the economic and developmental potentials of states, and that its repercussions are not limited to the regional framework alone, but extend to negative impacts on the global economy, supply chains, and international economic stability.

This came during the weekly media briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented by Mr. Ibrahim bin Sultan Al-Hashimi, Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry, in which he reviewed the most prominent diplomatic moves and political efforts being made by the State of Qatar to deal with current developments and transformations, and to work to end the political impasse and prepare the appropriate conditions for resuming diplomatic tracks and dialogue among the concerned parties.

Al-Hashimi affirmed that the State of Qatar continues, in a diligent and ongoing manner, to coordinate and work with its regional and international partners to revive the negotiation track and push toward political solutions. In this context, he pointed to the ongoing cooperation with the People's Republic of China, coinciding with the visit being made by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the Chinese capital, Beijing.

He explained that the main objective of these moves and diplomatic communications is to resume the path of diplomacy and put forward practical and balanced ideas that take into account the real concerns and apprehensions of all parties, thereby contributing to creating a conducive environment for dialogue and enhancing opportunities to reach sustainable solutions that address the roots of crises and ensure long-term stability.

The Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the success of any mediation efforts, initiatives, or proposed ideas remains primarily linked to the extent of political will available among the concerned parties. He affirmed that returning to the negotiating table and adopting peaceful means to address crises remains the only viable option capable of sparing the region further tension, escalation, and depletion, while opening the door to more stable and secure approaches that serve the interests of all peoples of the region.

Regarding maritime navigation security and the economic repercussions associated with regional developments, Al-Hashimi affirmed that the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as an international waterway, constitutes a top priority for the State of Qatar and all countries of the region, given the vital importance the strait holds for global trade movement, energy supplies, and regional and international economies.

In response to a question regarding Iran's citation of a Qatari document claiming that its strikes were limited to U.S. military facilities, Al-Hashimi revealed that the State of Qatar has sent hundreds of official letters and correspondences to both the International Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly. These letters officially and in detail documented the reality of the Iranian attacks that targeted the State of Qatar, and clearly confirmed that those attacks directly struck civilian and economic facilities within the country.

He stated that these correspondences constitute an officially documented record before the international community, reflecting the State of Qatar's position based on transparency and recourse to international law and the competent international institutions, thereby ensuring the documentation of facts and placing the international community face-to-face with its responsibilities toward these violations.

Despite these developments, Al-Hashimi stressed that the State of Qatar continues to approach crises from a balanced and responsible diplomatic vision, affirming that the current phase is not a time for exchanging accusations or assigning blame, but rather calls for continuing dialogue and negotiations to entrench security and stability in the region.

He said that the current circumstances require prioritizing the language of reason and diplomacy and joint action to de-escalate tensions and prepare the necessary conditions for achieving security and stability, in a way that serves the interests of the peoples of the region and spares them further crises and repercussions.

Regarding the Israeli statements describing Qatar as an "aggressor state," the Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the crimes of genocide being committed by Israel and the field facts associated with its conduct in the occupied Palestinian territories completely undermine Israel's repeated claims of being "the only democracy in the Middle East" or possessing what it describes as an "ethical army."

He pointed out that the State of Qatar has been subjected in recent years to systematic campaigns of defamation and media and political targeting, but that these campaigns have been refuted before the international community with facts and realities. Actual practices have proven that the State of Qatar is a responsible and trustworthy partner, committed to international law and continuing to fulfill its humanitarian and mediation role in a responsible and effective manner.

Al-Hashimi affirmed that Israeli officials are aware of the nature of Qatar's responsible role and Doha’s steadfast commitment to peace and stability efforts. He pointed out that the State of Qatar will not be affected or threatened by such statements, which primarily target "domestic consumption," and it will continue to perform its diplomatic and humanitarian role and efforts aimed at preserving peace, security, and stability at both the regional and international levels.

Doha: The State of Qatar condemns the Houthi targeting of civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran in the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which resulted in the injury of a number of civilians, including women and children, in addition to its continued targeting of commercial ships in the Red Sea and threatening the security, safety and freedom of international maritime navigation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that these attacks represent a reprehensible act of aggression and an unacceptable disregard for the lives of civilians and the security of the countries of the region, as well as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a clear breach of the rules of international law, and a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.

The ministry calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance against these violations, and to ensure the implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 on Yemen, and Resolution 2722 on the security and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

It also affirms that freedom of navigation through international waterways is a right guaranteed under international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The ministry reiterates the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all legitimate measures it would take to maintain its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and interests. It further affirms that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the State of Qatar and the collective security system of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

The ministry expresses the State of Qatar's wishes for a swift recovery for the injured, praying to Allah the Almighty to keep the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people from harm's way.
