Inspired by a sense of patriotism, a group of good citizens of this generous land decided in 1978 to establish the Gulf Publishing & Printing Company. That decision proved to be a turning-point in the literary life of Qatar, leading to the creation of two great newspapers. The Company and its publications are a practical expression of the hopes and aspirations, values and principles of our country and its culture, which are deeply rooted in the Gulf and Arab world.

Emirates has announced that, starting October 1, it will prohibit the use of power banks during flights as part of new safety regulations aimed at minimizing fire risks. Passengers will no longer be allowed to charge their devices using portable battery packs or the aircraft’s power supply while onboard.

The decision follows a series of in-flight fire incidents linked to lithium battery-powered devices. In a statement, the airline said it conducted a comprehensive safety review and is taking a “firm and proactive stance to mitigate risk.”

The updated policy permits passengers to bring one power bank onboard, provided it is stored in an accessible location in the cabin. This ensures that in the rare event of a fire, trained cabin crew can respond promptly. Emirates emphasized that the move is part of broader efforts to enhance onboard safety and protect passengers and crew.
