𝐐𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝟓𝟖 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝-𝟏𝟗 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐜𝐭 𝟓

𝐃𝐨𝐡𝐚: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today reported 58 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) and 99 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 235,402.

Out of 58 new cases, 31 are community cases and 27 are from travelers returning from abroad.

No death was reported in the last 24 hours. The total death toll from Covid-19 stands at 606

The total number of positive Covid-19 cases recorded in Qatar till now is 237,048 and there are 1,040 active cases under treatment.

5,811 people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (20,123 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 2,693,526 tests.

No one was admitted in intensive care in the last 24 hours and 14 people continue to receive medical attention in ICU.

𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐃: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday formed a high-powered cell to investigate if any irregularity had been committed by the 700 Pakistanis named in the Pandora Papers including federal cabinet members, politicians, retired generals, owners of media houses and others in establishing offshore companies.

About federal ministers and some prominent leaders of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), the prime minister categorically stated that they would have to “clear themselves”.

A separate probe will be launched by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to investigate if media owners who, according to the papers, also established companies in the “safe tax havens” had committed any wrongdoings.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐡𝐢: India recorded 18,346 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the lowest in over 6 months, the Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday.

With this, the active caseload of the country stands at 2,52,902; accounting for less than 1 percent of the total cases.

As per the ministry, the recovery rate of India is at its highest since March 2020 and currently stands at 97.93 percent.

As many as 29,639 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,31,50,886.

A total number of 57,53,94,042 tests have been conducted so far

𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐃: The government's legal team will hold an important meeting to review the names mentioned in the Pandora Papers leaks, said Information Fawad Chaudhry Monday.

"A new Pandora's box has been opened by the Pandora leaks," noted the minister.

Sources told Geo News that the DG FIA has mobilized the cybercrime wing of the agency, adding that the Investigation Bureau and other investigative institutions are also actively monitoring the developments.

Chaudhry was referring to the high-profile investigation undertaken by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) that laid bare the financial secrets of the rich and powerful.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐡𝐢: India reported 20,799 fresh COVID-19 cases today, a drop of around nine percent from yesterday's 22,842 cases. During the same period, 180 deaths were recorded according to the Health Ministry.

India's active cases account for less than 1 percent of total infections, currently at 0.78 percent -- lowest since March 2020. The active case count stands at 2,64,458, the lowest in 200 days.

The national Covid recovery rate was recorded at 97.89 percent, the highest since March 2020. At least 26,718 recoveries in the last 24 hours took the number of total recoveries to 3,31,21,247.

The daily positivity rate - the number of positive cases identified per 100 - stands at 2.10 percent, less than 3 percent for the last 35 days. The weekly positivity rate stands at 1.63 percent.

𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐃: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the US will have to recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan sooner or later.

In an interview with TRT World, the prime minister said that it won’t make any impact if Pakistan unilaterally recognizes the Taliban, adding that the US, Europe, China and Russia should recognize them on priority.

“Pakistan is in talks with neighboring countries on the matter and a decision will be taken after consultation.”

When asked about the Taliban taking over Kabul, PM Iman Khan said we were scared about the bloodshed during the Kabul takeover and the peaceful transition of power was unexpected.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐡𝐢: India reported 24,354 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a slight decrease of 8.8 per cent from yesterday. The majority of cases were reported from Kerala -- 13,834 new cases in 24 hours.

India's active caseload stands at 2,73,889, lowest in 197 days, which accounts for less than 0.81 per cent of total cases -- lowest since March 2020. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.86 per cent, highest since March 2020. At least 25,455 recoveries in the last 24 hours took the total number of recoveries to 3,30,68,599.

A total of 89.74 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Kerala reported majority of new cases in India, 13,834, and 95 deaths, taking the infection count to 46,94,719 and the death count to 25,182. Delhi recorded 32 fresh COVID-19 cases and no death while the positivity rate in the city currently stands at 0.05 per cent. There are 409 active Covid cases in the national capital.

The main opposition CPN-UML has boycotted the all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The all-party meeting started earlier this morning at Baluwatar.

A UML leader confirmed to the Post that the party is not attending the meeting because the representatives of the CPN (Unified Socialist) are also attending the meeting.

“It’s just the continuation of our ongoing stance and that we will not attend any meeting where leaders of the illegally and unconstitutionally formed CPN (Unified Socialist) are present,” said a UML leader who did not wish to be named. “The prime minister and the government are not concerned about our ongoing protests and concerns.”

𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐃: The bill moved in the US Senate seeking to assess Pakistan’s alleged role in Afghanistan before and after the fall of Kabul to Afghan Taliban set alarm bells ringing in the upper house of parliament on Wednesday.

Raising the issue of the anti-Pakistan bill that aims to penalize and sanction different countries, Pakistan Peoples Party parliamentary leader in Senate and chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Senator Sherry Rehman said Pakistan was faced with a moment of serious peril after the hasty pullout of US forces from Afghanistan.

Referring to the Afghanistan Counterterrorism, Oversight, and Accountability bill moved by 22 Republican senators, Senator Rehman regretted the US left Afghanistan under a deal that it had directly made with the Taliban yet it was pressing Pakistan to take responsibility for whatever was happening in Afghanistan. “What is happening to Pakistan is actually worse than what has happened before,” she remarked.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases rose to 3,37,39,980 with the new infections, while the death count has reached 4,48,062. The active cases comprise 0.82 percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020 -- the active caseload at present stands at 2,77,020.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 88 crores as a total of 59,48,118 vaccine doses were administered in a day -- the total vaccinations stand at 88,34,70,578.

𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐃: Prime Minister Imran Khan Wednesday said Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been tasked with probing into alleged corruption in road infrastructure projects in the past.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Jhal Jaho Bela road in Islamabad today, PM Imran Khan said that the road projects being executed by the PTI-led government were cheaper than those built in the PML-N’s tenure in the country.

He hit the former governments hard over their alleged corruption in the road projects, and announced that the FIA has been mandated to expose the elements that minted money through the road projects.

The prime minister said, “We are spending Rs200 million less on a four-lane road than the ones executed back in 2013.”

It showed how much taxpayers’ money was plundered by the past rulers, he added.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐡𝐢: India reported less than 20,000 Covid cases for the second day in a row, recording 18,870 new cases, just marginally higher than yesterday's figures (18,795), and taking the cumulative infections to 3,37,16,451, according to Union Health Ministry data.

The country saw a jump in daily deaths over a 24-hour period - from 179 deaths yesterday, it touched 378 today, taking total deaths to 4,47,751.

Active cases declined to 2,82,520, the lowest in 194 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

The active cases comprise 0.84 percent of the total infections - the lowest since March 2020 - while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.83 percent - the highest since March 2020. A decrease of 9,686 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday penned an opinion piece for The Washington Post in which he criticized the Afghan and Western governments for making Pakistan "a convenient scapegoat" for the outcome of the war in Afghanistan.

The premier started his opinion piece by saying that he was shocked to see a recent US congressional hearing that instead of recognizing Pakistan's sacrifices in the War on Terror, blamed it for "America's loss".

'Afghan war was unwinnable'

"Let me put it plainly. Since 2001, I have repeatedly warned that the Afghan war was unwinnable. Given their history, Afghans would never accept a protracted foreign military presence, and no outsider, including Pakistan, could change this reality," he wrote.

PM Imran Khan lashed out at successive Pakistani governments, saying that they had sought to please the US instead of pointing out the flaws of a military-driven approach in Afghanistan.

India recorded 26,041 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 2,99,620 - the lowest its been in 191 days. Active cases currently account for only 0.89 percent of the total Covid cases in India.

India also reported 276 fresh deaths.

There have been 29,621 recoveries in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 3,29,31,972. The recovery rate currently stands at 97.78 per cent.

There have been 38,18,362 vaccinations in the past 24 hours, taking total vaccine doses administered till date to 86.01 crore.

22,69,42,725 people have received both doses of the vaccine so far. This represents 24% of the eligible population (94.4 crores) and 16.3% of the total population (139 crores).

11,65,006 Covid tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours; the total tests conducted so far stand at 56.44 crore.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝-𝟏𝟗 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝟓𝟎 𝐢𝐧 𝐐𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝟐𝟔

𝐃𝐨𝐡𝐚: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today reported 67 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) and 125 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 234,259.

Out of 67 new cases, 40 are community cases and 27 from travellers returning from abroad.

One death (aged 81) was reported in the last 24 hours. The total death toll from Covid-19 stands at 605.

The total number of positive Covid-19 cases recorded in Qatar till now is 236,298 and there are 1,434 active cases under treatment.

5,128 people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (21,303 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 2,642,404 tests.
