Idi Amin was a soldier who staged a coup to become President of Uganda 🇺🇬 from 1971 - 1979. He left behind a controversial legacy with critics accusing him of being a ruthless killer, a cannibal and a buffoon. Forest Whitaker won an Oscar for his portrayal of Amin in the 2006 film The Last King of Scotland. One of my favourite books, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is getting a Hollywood remake.
But already, there's a mass meltdown in Nigeria over the casting of Idris Elba in the staring role of Okwonkwo.
Some critics are saying Elba is not the right pick as he is neither Nigerian and more importantly for some fans, he is not Igbo.
Personally, I can't wait to see the new interpretation!

A TV series adaptation of Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart" is in development at A24 with Idris Elba attached to star and executive produce
