The last day for 100 Thoughts: Chapter 1

Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar featuring ‘100 Thoughts’ by Doha based artist Tim Makower.

Tim Makower has been creating sketchbooks, not in a conscious way but rather as an extension of himself, throughout his time in Doha. As such these small books reflect his fleeting thoughts, ideas and moments in a very direct and personal way. Each one holds starting points to different moments that he himself has explored, but by exhibiting them in the gallery context, Makower also invites the viewer to share his journeys, as well as construct their own personal narratives or ‘100 Thoughts’ in Doha.

Exhibition open daily from 9am to 5pm (closed Fridays).

Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival - مهرجان الجزيرة للأفلام

The shadow Theatre comes to Katara for the first time with a play named Fireflies. A unique theatrical presented by an international group that specializes in this form of play.

Stars, the Moon and the holy Qu’ran: photography exhibition

Qatar Photographic Society (QPS) is holding its annual Ramadan exhibition at Katara from Thursday 3 July. The exhibition is a staple of the society’s calendar of events and takes place in their extensive gallery within Katara Cultural Village.

Each year, members of QPS are invited to submit photographs that fit with a theme that changes each year, but which always reflects the spirit of the holy month.

This year’s exhibition will feature 41 photographs, many of which focus on the night sky, in line with other Ramadan exhibitions and activities taking place around Katara.

‘Stars, the Moon and the holy Qu’ran’ opens on the evening of Thursday 3 July and continues throughout Ramadan.
