Everything I wish I’d known before moving to Qatar 👇🏼
🇶🇦 When I first packed up my life in the UK and moved to Doha 5 years ago, I had no clue what I was doing tbh 😅 like what I’d need, what day-to-day life would look like, or what random admin would come back to bite me…
And since then, I’ve watched sooo many people move here and go through the exact same “wait… no one told me THIS??” moments 🤠
So here’s the stuff that actually matters:
📄 Get your documents sorted BEFORE you move. Do. Not. Skip. This.
🛒 You can get basically everything here so don’t panic pack your whole life. It all exists once you know where to find it.
🇬🇧 HOWEVER… if you’re British and emotionally attached to a specific tea aha… bring it!
👗 Dress code isn’t as strict as you think - it’s very venue/area dependent and not a blanket “cover up everywhere” situation.
🌞 If you’re moving to Qatar in summer, it’ll feel dead... June–Sept is QUIET but don’t panic, everyone’s just hiding from the heat - it gets fun again, I promise.
♻️ Recycling isn’t really a thing in most households…but I haaave found a company that collects it (for a fee) 👀 message me if you want the details!
📣 News travels FAST - It’s giving small town energy 😂
🤝 Customer service is a bit of a lucky dip eek, it’s either incredible or terrible.. Not even in a bad way, the training just isn’t always there. You’ll see what I mean.
🧠 “Wasta” is very real... It’s who you know. Be nice, be social, and network - it genuinely makes life easier here!
Honestly it’s the little things like this that make settling in so much smoother 🤗
✨ Save this for when you’re planning your move & follow for real, unfiltered life in Doha
