La Toyota GR Yaris à moteur central a débuté en compétition 🇯🇵

Elle avait fait sensation lors de sa présentation au Tokyo Auto Salon, le racing show local, en début d'année. La Toyota GR Yaris M Concept a fait ses débuts en compétition lors de la manche de Super Taikyu à Okayama, notamment aux mains du grand patron Akio Toyoda. Cette Yaris a pour particularité d'être animée par un moteur 4 cylindres G20E de 2 litres d'une puissance de 400cv et placé en position centrale arrière. Les 4 roues motrices sont toujours d'actualité. Pouvant compter sur le coup de volant du pilote de Super GT Hiroaki Ishiura, la Yaris couvée par le team semi-officiel Rookie Racing a impressionné, réalisant des chronos similaires aux meilleures TCR. Longtemps en tête de classe, elle a finalement terminé 3e après que Akio Toyoda, logiquement moins rapide, ait été chargé du relais final. En attendant, ce galop d'essai fructueux devrait ouvrir la voie au come-back de la MR2 qu'on dit plus que jamais d'actualité. (MB, 📸Rookie Racing)
