În inima orașului Genova, ascunsă printre străduțele înguste ale centrului vechi, am descoperit una dintre cele mai vechi și impresionante biserici ale orașului: Chiesa di San Siro. ⛪
Puțini știu că aceasta a fost prima catedrală a Genovei, înainte ca rolul principal să fie preluat de Cattedrale di San Lorenzo. Biserica este dedicată episcopului Siro of Genoa, unul dintre protectorii orașului.
Din exterior pare discretă, aproape ascunsă între clădirile istorice, dar când pășești în interior descoperi un spectacol baroc impresionant: fresce, aur, altare bogat decorate și o liniște care te face să simți greutatea istoriei de peste o mie de ani.
Genova este plină de astfel de surprize – locuri care nu apar mereu în ghidurile turistice, dar care spun povestea autentică a orașului.

Few people know that this church was actually the first cathedral of Genoa, before the role was taken by Cattedrale di San Lorenzo. It is dedicated to Siro of Genoa, one of the city’s patron saints.
From the outside it looks modest, almost hidden between historic buildings. But once you step inside, you discover a spectacular baroque interior: frescoes, golden details, richly decorated altars, and a quiet atmosphere that makes you feel the weight of centuries of history.
