When Even the Eskimos Can See It
Az, hogy a HHRF a Hungarian Human Rights Foundation, amely New Yorkban működik, és amelynek neve a Ceaușescu-ellenes tüntetések óta fogalom a magyar kisebbségi jogvédelem történetében, most felkarolta az ügyet, azt jelenti, hogy az ügy kiszabadult a romániai és magyarországi politikai ketrecből, és eljutott arra a szintre, ahol már nem lehet sem irredentának, sem nacionalistának bélyegezni.
New Yorkból más a hang, és más a visszhang is.
Ez pontosan az a nemzetközi csatorna, amelyre szükség volt.
Mert a HHRF annak idején képes volt arra, hogy megakadályozza, hogy Ceausescut ne fogadják a nyugati fővárosokban.
Most ugyanez a szervezet dokumentálja, hogy egy uniós tagállamban hajnali fél ötkor csákányokkal törnek be egy műemlék templomba, és egy főpapot víz és villany nélkül szorítanak egy kápolnába.
Amikor már az eszkimók is látják, akkor Románia sem tehet úgy, mintha ez belügy lenne.

The fact that HHRF -the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation, based in New York, whose name has been synonymous with the defence of Hungarian minority rights since the anti-Ceaușescu demonstrations - has now taken up this case means that the matter has broken free of the Romanian and Hungarian political cage, and has reached a level where it can no longer be dismissed as irredentism or nationalism.
From New York, the voice carries differently, and so does the echo.
This is precisely the international channel that was needed.
The HHRF was once capable of ensuring that Ceaușescu was not received in Western capitals.
Now that same organisation is documenting the fact that in a European Union member state, at half past four in the morning, a listed historic monument was broken into with hammers and pickaxes, and a senior clergyman is being kept in a chapel without running water or electricity.
When even the eskimos can see it, Romania can no longer pretend this is a domestic matter.
In the early morning hours of May 26, officials arrived to evict Abbot Rudolf Anzelm Fejes from his premises in the Premonstratensian Monastery in Oradea/Nagyvárad, Romania. The building had been legally awarded to the city, a motion the abott has been fighting. Municpal representatives actually broke through a wall, and ordered the abbot to vacate the premises, according to video recordings posted on the abbey’s social media pages and reported by the local press.

Kilakoltatták Fejes Rudolf Anzelm apátot, váradhegyfoki prépost-prelátust a nagyváradi premontrei rendház önkormányzatnak ítélt helyiségeiből. Az önkormányzat képviselői 2026. május 27-én hajnalban jelentek meg a helyszínen és áttörték a falat, majd a helyiségek kiürítésére szólították fel az apátot – számolt be az apátság közösségi oldalaira feltöltött videófelvételek alapján a helyi sajtó.
