The Last Day in Brno: A Farewell to the European Dog Show

As the sun set on the final day of the European Dog Show in Brno, the air was filled with more than just the sounds of applause and the rustle of eager paws — it was filled with emotion, pride, and the quiet echo of dreams come true.
For days, the halls of the Brno Exhibition Centre had pulsed with life. The energy of handlers, judges, breeders, and dogs from all corners of Europe was infectious. Every ring told a different story — of effort, excellence, and unbreakable bonds. But on this last day, something shifted. The excitement was still there, but beneath it lay a softness. A collective understanding that this chapter was closing.
The final ceremony was a celebration, but also a farewell — the kind that stays with you long after the lights dim. The atmosphere at the Brno Exhibition Centre remained electric on the second day of the European Dog Show 2025, as exhibitors, handlers, judges, and spectators gathered once again to celebrate the finest representatives of the canine world. With the sun shining over the Czech Republic's second-largest city, the venue transformed into a vibrant hub of breed pride, artistry, and joyful competition.
From early morning, the rings were alive with energy as countless breeds strutted their stuff under the watchful eyes of international judges.
Each ring told its own story—a tale of passion, precision, and the unique connection between humans and their dogs. The grooming areas buzzed with activity, while handlers gave their final pep talks and adjustments before entering the ring, hoping to catch the eye of the judge and secure their place in the final lineup.

Highlights of the Day

One of the highlights was the performance of the Nordic breeds, with Samoyeds, Finnish Spitz, and Norwegian Elkhounds drawing enthusiastic applause. Their presence was not only a feast for the eyes but also a nod to the deep heritage and working purpose these dogs have historically represented.
As the day progressed, the Best of Breed winners moved forward to the group finals, where the tension and excitement reached new heights. The European Dog Show 2025 commenced on Thursday, April 10, at the Brno Exhibition Centre (BVV), marking the beginning of a four-day celebration of canine excellence. Organized by the Czech-Moravian Cynological Union (ČMKU), the event welcomed thousands of dogs and enthusiasts from across Europe.​

The first day featured competitions for FCI Groups 1 (Sheepdogs and Cattle Dogs), 4 (Dachshunds), and 6 (Scenthounds and Related Breeds) in the European Dog Show. Simultaneously, the National Dog Show hosted competitions for FCI Groups 3 (Terriers), 7 (Pointing Dogs), and 8 (Retrievers, Flushing Dogs, Water Dogs) .​

Esteemed judges from various countries presided over the events, evaluating breeds such as the Belgian Shepherd, Dachshund, and Bloodhound. The atmosphere was electric, with handlers and spectators eagerly anticipating the results.​

In addition to the competitions, attendees enjoyed various demonstrations and activities, including rehabilitation showcases and breed presentations. The event also featured a marketplace offering a range of canine products and services.​

A Grand Start to EDS Brno: The First Day Unfolds with Elegance and Excitement

Brno woke up to a buzz of excitement as the European Dog Show 2025 officially opened its doors. Held at the Brno Exhibition Centre, the venue quickly filled with the energy of handlers, groomers, judges, and, of course, hundreds of four-legged stars from all across Europe. The atmosphere was nothing short of electric, with flags flying, tails wagging, and cameras flashing.

The first day was all about setting the tone—and it did not disappoint. From the moment the gates opened, the showgrounds transformed into a celebration of breed standards, perfect grooming, and unforgettable performances.

The judging rings were busy from early morning, with breed-specific competitions taking place in a steady rhythm. Each ring had its own audience, many cheering for their favorites with the passion of a football match. For exhibitors, it was a chance to showcase years of dedication, and for spectators, a visual feast of canine excellence.

Among the highlights of the day was the Junior Handling competition, where young talents showed off impressive skills, maturity, and deep connections with their dogs. It was a reminder that the future of the sport is in very capable hands—and paws.

Vendors and breed clubs added a colorful layer to the event, offering everything from handcrafted collars to breed-specific merchandise and delicious snacks (both for dogs and humans). And let’s not forget the photographers, capturing every proud moment, every ribbon, and every joyful jump.

As the first day came to a close, there was a feeling in the air that this is going to be a show to remember. Friendships were renewed, new ones were formed, and the stage is set for the days to come.
