Prayer without a specific goal is like sweeping in the wind... Prayer itself should not be the goal, prayer (accompanied by fasting where necessary) are means, means by which we seek to obtain something from God. When prayer itself becomes the goal, then faith disappears and religiosity is born. Religiosity is slavery, it's rule, it's legalism, while faith is life, it's freedom, it's joy. As Samuel Chadwick said: "Religion for them was a joyless burden, because they carried God on their backs instead of in their hearts"
