This couldn’t happen to me, not again!
I fell on my knees and cried bitterly.
“God, why me?”
I felt I was being punished. But what have I don’t to deserve so much suffering? It was hard for me to believe that
He hated me so much as to take Duncan away from me as well. I finally managed to understand Richard’s death, but this time I wasn’t about to understand or forgive Him for the pain He was causing me.
No, this could not be real. Perhaps it was all nonsense on TV. I stood up and took the phone. I dialled his number,
but the same answering machine from the last times greeted me. I called again... again... and again, until I felt exhausted. Finally, I threw my phone at one of the walls.
Don’t do this to me!

Christmas:
December 25 th
Duncan encouraged me to believe in magic, love and miracles. He has taught me this important lesson but in the
ensuing chaos I’d forgotten it.
