55 years ago today, Creedence Clearwater Revival released their fifth studio album, Cosmo's Factory.
"1970 delivered Creedence Clearwater Revival’s biggest seller: Cosmo’s Factory topped the charts in the US and UK, and remains John Fogerty’s masterpiece. Foremost, it features two blistering songs now immortalised as rock ‘n’ roll standards, raucous road anthem Travelin’ Band, and Up Around The Bend, another joyous rocker later covered by Hanoi Rocks.
"But it’s the darker stuff that gives the album its real weight: the eerie Run Through The Jungle, the melancholy Who’ll Stop The Rain, and an 11-minute stoner-jam version of Motown favourite I Heard It Through The Grapevine."
Words: Paul Elliott / Classic Rock
