It's game day at BK Arena, and the pressure is on!

APR is looking to bounce back after a tough 90-68 loss to Al Ahli Tripoli on May 20th and 94-88 to MBB South Africa on May 22nd.

With their playoff dreams on the line and 'no clear' update on whether star player Aliou Diara will be fit to play, today’s game is crucial.

Earlier on, MBB (Made for Basketball) South Africa is set to face Kenya's NCT (Nairobi City Thunder). Both teams have shown great improvement in their last matches, with MBB winning 2 games and NCT yet to register a win.

Dont miss out on the Biggest Night of BAL action in Kigali as *Bruce Melodie & BNXN* will be lighting up the stage post game. 📷

The BAL Nile Conference is officially underway in Kigali!

For the first time ever, the Basketball Africa League’s Nile Conference games are being hosted in Rwanda’s iconic BK Arena — a venue that has previously staged only the BAL finals since the league began in 2021.

Four teams have since battled it out for two coveted playoff spots yesterday, 17th May, and today :Our very own APR Basketball Club, Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli, South Africa’s Made in Ball (MBB), and Nairobi City Thunder from Kenya.

And, of course, APR has been on fire!
They launched their campaign with a convincing 92–63 win over Nairobi City Thunder, with standout performances from Aliou Diarra and ex-NBA guard Chasson Randle.

They kept the momentum going by overcoming a slow start to thrash MBB 103–81 — showing resilience, depth, and home-court confidence.

Elsewhere in the conference:
Al Ahli Tripoli edged MBB in today’s opener, making BAL history by scoring a record-breaking 115 points in a single game against Nairobi City Thunder, including 20 three-pointers — tying the league record!

With APR sitting undefeated at 2–0, Rwanda’s basketball dreams are burning bright. We can just hope they carry this momentum all the way to the playoffs?

In recent years, the commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi has revamped to incorporate ‘Remembrance’—of over a million people who were massacred in that period, with ‘Celebration’—of survivors of the same atrocity, for their contribution to the transformative journey of Rwanda, three decades later.

Through sharing their testimonies, they have not only educated masses about the dangers of hate speech but also empowered young Rwandans like Dominique Uwase Alonga to document the country’s history as a celebration of its resilience, strength and courage. Last year, Uwase, and her team: ‘Imagine We’ embarked on a journey to, “figure out what really happened to our nation,” findings meticulously curated and compiled into a memoir: 30 years, 30 stories. Click on the link in the Bio to read about this amazing book.
