Morning light through the lattice curtains of the town house,
Half fell on half cooked jade burning, half on the slightly wet yard stone.
Making a lunch in the old house in Kyoto,
Never just "cooking" -
The focus when rolling egg skin is Zen;
The temperature of the palm when pinching rice balls is the way;
The moment you open the food box next to the dead mountains and waters is silence.
The "edible landscape" of this issue,
We hide ourselves in Kyoto town under the Ghibli filter,
Record the birth of a simple lunch,
And the little voices that are over-beautiful:

• Seagulls fit the rice ball with a "bump"
• In the distance came the sand of broom thru the gravel...
Food will be finished, the yard will be night,
But the moment eyes and ears taste,
Maybe I can stay in my heart for a little longer.
