⚖️ Murder of Justice or Failure of the System?
Elected Councilor of Mirpur Kept in Illegal Detention for 48 Days — Over a Cheque Dated "30th February!"
Report: RightTure | Mirpur / Azad Kashmir
Can a citizen in Pakistan be arrested on the basis of a cheque that bears a date which does not exist anywhere in the world's calendar?
Sadly, the answer is "Yes" — and the proof is this shocking case from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir.
What Happened?
Nadeem Ahmed (Case), an elected councilor from Ward No. 31 of Mirpur and a well-known businessman, was arrested under FIR No. 86/24 on charges of financial fraud worth 8.4 Million Rupees.
But here is the jaw-dropping fact that puts the entire justice system under a magnifying glass:
The entire case was built upon Cheque No. 30/02/24 — dated 30th February!
A date that has never existed in the history of the world.
February has at most 28 or 29 days. "30th February" is simply impossible — yet on the basis of this non-existent date, an elected public representative was thrown behind bars for a full 48 days.
The Grave Aspects of This Case
① False and Fabricated FIR
Legal experts confirm that this case was built on a flawed foundation from the very beginning. The cheque presented as evidence carries a date that does not exist in any calendar — this is not a simple clerical error, but a clear sign of deliberate conspiracy.
② Tampering of Documents
A significant discrepancy was found between the initial agreement and the documents later presented in court — with changes in dates and content clearly identified. This itself is a punishable offence under the law.
③ 48 Days of Unjust Imprisonment
An elected public representative — chosen by the people to be their voice — was kept in custody for 48 long days without any solid legal justification. This is not just an injustice against one man; it is an insult to the mandate of thousands of voters who elected him.
④ Historic High Court Ruling
After reviewing all evidence and legal aspects, the independent bench of the High Court not only approved his bail but also declared the entire process a serious violation of human rights.
Political Victimization — An Open Book!
This case is far more than a legal error. The evidence strongly suggests that:
Political opponents used state machinery as a weapon against a rival
A deliberate attempt was made to sideline an elected representative from the political arena
A calculated conspiracy was hatched to destroy the life of an innocent citizen through the abuse of state power
This is one of the most disturbing examples of state-sponsored persecution in recent memory.
Authorities
Gujarat Ki Awaz strongly urges human rights organizations, the Chief Justice of Azad Kashmir, and all responsible institutions to take immediate action:
✅ An immediate high-level judicial inquiry must be launched into this incident
✅ The real masterminds behind the false FIR must be exposed and brought to justice
✅ Criminal charges must be filed against those who tampered with official documents
✅ Nadeem Ahmed must be fully compensated for the mental, physical, and financial damage he has suffered
✅ Legislation must be introduced to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future
Final Word
"If 30th February does not exist then how can someone be imprisoned for 48 days on the basis of that date? This question does not belong to Nadeem Ahmed alone. It belongs to every citizen who believes that the law exists to protect them."
