๐ฎ Borderlands 4 Nears 300K Players but Faces PC Performance Woes
๐ Approaching a peak concurrent count of 300,000 players on Steam โ making it one of the most-played games on the platform.
๐ No other Borderlands title has come close to these Steam numbers.
๐ฌ Randy Pitchford claimed itโs โimpossible to break the serversโ, promising Borderlands 4 wonโt suffer the same online failures as other AAA launches.
๐ Despite the strong start, the game sits at a Mixed rating on Steam, with widespread performance complaints:
๐ป Poor optimization even on high-end PCs.
โ ๏ธ Crashes preventing some players from starting the game
๐ ๏ธ Gearbox responded with a Borderlands 4 Nvidia Optimization Guide on Steam, advising players on graphics settings to improve framerates and stability.
๐ฎ Console Controversy:
โ No Field of View (FOV) slider on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
โ No motion blur toggle either on consoles.
โ
PC version allows both:
๐ฅ๏ธ FOV adjustable up to 110 degrees (first-person + vehicles).
๐ง Motion blur settings for amount and quality.
๐ฌ Player Reactions to Borderlands 4โs on Console:
๐คข xInsaneAbilityx:
"Man, I've tried to play it twice today. Both times I get that โcar-sickโ feel after about 15 minutes and have to stop."
๐คฎ Dallywack3r:
"Yeah Iโm pretty sensitive to motion sickness and a narrow FOV in first-person makes me really dizzy. Combining that with motion blur just churns my stomach."
๐ christophlieber:
"This game feels almost zoomed in, itโs really not pleasant to play."
๐ฃ๏ธ Randy Pitchford responded, suggesting โfairnessโ may be a reason behind the lack of FOV slider
