ADVOCACY OFFICER
Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI)
The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Solomon Islanders for the position of Advocacy Officer.
SICCI is the peak representative body of the private sector and the largest business network in the country. The Chamber plays a critical role in promoting a conducive business environment and advancing policy dialogue between government and the private sector.
Position Overview
The Advocacy Officer will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. In alignment with SICCI’s Strategic Plan, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing the Chamber’s Advocacy Plan in accordance with its Business Plan.
This role requires strategic thinking, policy analysis capability, stakeholder engagement skills, and strong communication competence at national level.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, lead, and oversee the implementation of SICCI’s advocacy strategy
Conduct research and analysis on priority advocacy issues affecting the private sector
Prepare reports, policy briefs, and advisory notes for the CEO and Board
Represent SICCI’s advocacy positions to the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) and other key stakeholders
Facilitate discussions and consultations on advocacy policy agendas
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
Applicants must demonstrate:
A Degree in Business Management, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Law, or a related discipline
A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience at middle management level
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Proven leadership and people/resource management experience
Strong understanding of private sector operations, business, and trade environments
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong analytical and research skills
Effective planning and coordination skills when engaging team members and external stakeholders
Ability to communicate and represent organizational positions effectively at national fora
A proactive approach to problem-solving and managing emerging or complex issues
