'KESA'

Choiseul Province, Solomon Islands.

The currency rings called kisa or kesa is one of the oldest currencies in the Solomon Islands.
Characterised by their cylindrical form and their fine thickness (maximum 2 mm), their length is approximately 6.5 cm to 7cm for diameter.

The material in which they are made, is from the shell from a Teredinidae family mollusc or “Kuphus tube”, a kind of marsh worm.

They were not permanently traded but mainly used to guarantee a loan or to establish a clan’s authority.

They could also be used as bride prices, which would be worth around 3 to 5 kesa.

Kesa is now a modern slang for Cash or Money.

Headrush here— You may know me from some of my music and collaboration work.

Right now, this isn’t about music nor work.

It’s about Solidarity and Accountability.

Some of our female artists are being targeted with AI-generated explicit content, threats, and harassing messages. This isn’t just a breach of safety—it’s a violation of dignity and respect. It’s cowardice disguised as influence—and we stand united against it.

To those behind these actions: this ends now. These women are not objects for exploitation. They are creators, voices of our culture, and daughters of our islands. We refuse to let them be silenced.

To our community, leaders, and authorities: Where is our pride in protecting our women? Would we ignore this if male artists were targeted? It’s time for action—from the police, the government, and all of us—to ensure safety, justice, and respect for every artist.

To my friends, followers and Fam: Do not share or condone harmful content. Use your platforms to uplift, protect, and empower—not to tear down.

Music should unite us, not divide us. It’s time we walk that talk together. I stand with our sisters. I stand for respect. I stand for our future.

We stand with you Rosie Delmah, Kayler & every other female musician or female creator in our country.
