Fresh off the press!
These pages bring to life vibrant stories written by Detroit youth from 826 Michigan—now captured in print.

Our CEO Elizabeth Mays had the pleasure of attending the release party for The Panther Press to celebrate. Seeing these young writers hold their work for the first time, surrounded by proud family and friends, was truly special.

We produced 1,000 copies of this one-of-a-kind newspaper to help share their voices far and wide.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do—helping bring meaningful stories to life and into the hands of the community.e

🥈 MAYS Multimedia Earns two Silver Awards in the 2026 Print Excellence Awards, presented by the Graphic Media Alliance.

This recognition comes during a special milestone for our company as we celebrate 80 years of service in the printing and communications industry. Under the leadership of CEO Elizabeth Mays, MAYS Multimedia continues a long-standing tradition of quality craftsmanship, innovation, and dedication to our clients.

The Print Excellence Awards recognize outstanding achievement in print production across Ohio, Michigan, and Northern Kentucky. This year’s competition included 689 entries, judged by an independent panel of industry experts, making this honor especially meaningful.

Meet Joyce
Creative Director, MAYS Multimedia
Joyce’s passion for this work comes from witnessing how design and storytelling especially through production can truly move people and shape outcomes. As Creative Director at MAYS, she leads the creative vision across design, publishing, and print, guiding projects from concept to completion while ensuring every piece of work is purposeful, strategic, and beautifully executed. ………..
Her role extends far beyond aesthetics. Joyce collaborates closely with clients, mentors creative teams, builds systems that support long-term growth, and holds each project to a high standard of quality and care. Working within a multi-generational, legacy-driven company has deepened her appreciation for craftsmanship while continually challenging her to innovate.

Rather than pointing to a single book or artist as her greatest influence, Joyce draws inspiration from stories rooted in purpose and responsibility. Collaborating with authors and community storytellers through publishing has shaped how she creates, reinforcing the idea that every story carries weight and deserves to be handled with care. Her creative philosophy balances clarity with emotion, and structure with heart.

As Joyce says: “I lead with vision, but I create with heart.”
That sentiment reflects the spirit of the work she strive to do every day.

Soon, MAYS Multimedia will open our doors at 1420 Washington Blvd, right in the heart of downtown. We’re excited to be downtown and even more excited to grow alongside the businesses that make this neighborhood thrive.

For over 80 years, the Mays family has been part of Detroit’s printing and creative community. Founded by J. Caulton Mays, succeeded by James C. Mays, his son, as President in 1986, and now proudly women-owned and led by the 3rd generation, we’ve spent decades helping people and organizations tell their stories through design, publishing, print, and multimedia.

We’re not just a printing and design company; we’re your neighbors, your collaborators, and your storytellers. The CEO, Elizabeth Mays and our team can’t wait to meet you, learn from you, and build something meaningful together.

Meet Hanna
Illustrator & Graphic Designer, MAYS Multimedia
Hanna’s passion for design and illustration comes from the belief that visuals are a powerful form of storytelling. As an Illustrator and Designer at MAYS, she brings concepts to life by translating ideas, emotions, and narratives into thoughtful visual experiences that connect with audiences.
What draws Hanna to this work is the constant evolution of the creative field. Each project presents a new opportunity to explore, learn, and create something meaningful. She especially enjoys collaborating with clients to take their vision and shape it into visuals that feel both intentional and expressive.
For Hanna, storytelling is at the center of everything she creates. Illustration allows her to communicate emotion and meaning in ways words sometimes cannot. Whether she’s interpreting someone else’s story or exploring her own ideas, her goal is always to create work that resonates and helps the story feel more accessible and human.
One of Hanna’s lasting creative influences is Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken. Its message of individuality and choosing an unconventional path mirrors how she approaches her work — trusting her instincts, embracing curiosity, and allowing room for unexpected ideas to emerge.
Hanna’s work reflects a balance of creativity and intention, reminding us that sometimes the most impactful stories are told visually, one thoughtful detail at a time.
As Hanna says:

On this MLK Day, we honor history through a powerful family story.
In 1963, 9-year-old James C. Mays stood beside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., just one week before the historic “I Have a Dream” speech. The photo was taken at Second Baptist Church in Detroit by James’s father, J. Caulton Mays.
This moment reminds us why storytelling matters. History lives not only in books, but in family stories, like the Mays legacy, passed down and preserved for future generations.
