Current Battlefronts in Sudan
Khartoum State
The SAF has declared full sovereignty over Khartoum State, including the capital city itself, expansive Khartoum, as well as its twin population centers, burgeoning Omdurman and bustling Bahri. This follows a series of pitched offensives that peaked in the recapture of pivotal strategic locations, such as the once opulent presidential palace compound and the sprawling Khartoum International Airport complex in March 2025.
Kordofan Region
In the diverse Kordofan region, dominance remains precarious. The town of El Dabibat, a strategic gateway connecting the disparate landscapes of Kordofan and Darfur, has birthed intense clashes. While the SAF claimed to have tightened dominance over the town in the aftermath of ferocious combat, reports indicate that the adaptive RSF has regained certain territories, leading to ongoing skirmishes and significant displacement among the local populace.
Darfur Region
El-Fasher, a culturally rich city in North Darfur, continues to experience intense skirmishing. Recent RSF shelling of neighborhoods has ignited pockets of volatility, though control of the city proper persists in an uneasy equilibrium
