SSPDF command/leadership welcomes back to its rank and file 11,000 former SPLA-IO soldiers
On behalf of SSPDF Chief of Defence Forces, Dr. Paul Nang Majok PhD( postdoc), command/ leadership and on my behalf, SSPDF GHQs-Bilpam warmly welcomes and applauses bold and heroic decision taken by Maj. Gen. Peter Gatkek Tolchieck, SPLA-IO commander of BDE 1, Sector 3, Nyirol County, Jonglei State for renouncing rebellion and rejoining Government/ SSPDF.
On 25/10/2025, maj. gen. Peter Gatkek Tolchiek along with 6100 officers and other ranks officially declared thier defection from SPLM/ SPLA-IO under the leadership of detained FVP Dr. Riek Machar and switched thier allegiance/ loyalty to the government/ SSPDF under the able leadership of H. E Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan and C-IN-C of SSPDF and Supreme Commander of all the organised forces.
The SSPDF command would also like to congratulate Lt. Gen. Keer Kai Geu for also declaring his defection from SPLA-IO to the government. Gen. Keer rejoined the government with 5400 members of the organised forces ( South Sudan National Police Service, Prison and Wildlife Services) that included 300 personnel from NSS-ISB under the command of col. Malang Yol Rial.
The declaration was made in Pul- Turuk village, Pul Turuk Payam, Nyirol County, Jonglei State.
With Maj. Gen. Peter Gatkek Tolchieck's defection along with Lt. Gen. Keer Kai Geu and Col. Malang Yol Rial's defection to the government, SSPDF has indirectly regained control of Pading Hqs of Nyirol County, Nyambor and Riang.
In conclusion, SSPDF GHQs-Bilpam would like to congratulate Hon. James Bol Makuei, Commissioner of Nyirol County, Jonglei State for his exemplary leadership and persuasive qualities that culminated in the abovementioned forces rejoining the government/ SSPDF.
