We now join with a great number of strange and skittish creatures in entering into a period of hibernation.
When we began this project just over two years ago we could never have predicted what was to come. The overwhelming love and support from people like you has made all the stress of trying to run a tiny publishing house through a pandemic absolutely worth it, and we at CHP couldn't be more grateful.
The pandemic threw a massive spanner in the works and has prevented us from doing most of what we had planned. We had four in-person events planned last year, all of which had to be cancelled. It's forced us to reconsider what this project means, what it represents in the centuries old micro-publishing tradition we find ourselves a part of.
After a lot of umming & ahing, we have decided to enter a period of official dormancy. Of course, we have been silent for some time already, but out of necessity rather than choice. Now we choose silence. Now we choose the cocoon. Now we burrow down into the softness of the earth to take our rest and, most importantly, to dream.
We will return soon, when the clouds part and the warmth of the sun is felt pouring down again from the heavens. We will return with the flowers as they awake from the dewy grass to breathe and create again with the gentle fervour with which we were first created.
With love,
