Well worth staying up until 5am here in London to watch Taylor Serrano 3!
Congratulations to the victor by a majority decision of . Clinical, composed and relentless.
Besides these two main card warriors, tonight (or this morning here!) in front of a sold out Madison Square Garden, we saw Ellie Scotney become unified champ, Alycia Baumgardner return with a convincing win, Cherneka Johnson take undisputed status, Ramla Ali edge a close one, and Tamm Thibeault land a slick stoppage.
Every fighter brought skill, serious showmanship (or should we say show-womanship!), and showed exactly why women’s boxing is worth watching, investing in, and headlining one of the world’s biggest stages.
We already knew this was a landmark event, backed by a meticulous press tour and serious commercial power. But seeing it play out on , with millions and millions watching from around the world, is something else.
This was sport as entertainment, at its slickest.
Is this a blueprint for how to build commercially viable, mainstream, mass-audience events centred on women?
And how crucial is the role of companies like who continue to back female fighters not as a one-off, but as the core of their stable and strategy?
We’ll be digging into what Taylor Serrano 3 means for the future of women’s sport in next week’s Glorious Sport editorial drop. Until then, check out our latest stories by tapping the link in our bio.
