Banger Factory Records was founded by Mark Kavuma in 2021 as a natural evolution from The Banger Factory, an ensemble he started in 2015 that quickly established itself as a cradle for young talent, driven by his charismatic persona. The Banger Factory is his extended family where everyone has an equally important role to fulfil and finds space to develop. After releasing two albums it became clea

r there was something very special about the developing sound created by the ensemble. The core band was regularly augmented by young lions, some of the most gifted and commanding musicians around, heavily encouraged to pitch their own sound into the mix and The Banger Factory began to unify the local London jazz scene. The Banger Factory nourished this truly unique, unmistakable sound leaning heavily on original material. Mark became keen to expand horizons, take artistic risks and to have ‘hands on’ creative control of the recording and releasing of the music, and realised that a natural progression to this now tried and proven formula, would be to set up a record label. The prospect of further collaborations with more outstanding musicians and visual artists was an exciting one as was the opportunity to have an unbounded outlet and legitimate entity with which to expose and promote jazz as an art form. With the inception of Banger Factory Records, Kavuma has established a direct link to the legendary musicians that pioneered the sound, the look, the language and the swagger of the whole culture. His vision is to pass it on to the generations to come and while he is at it unashamedly showcase the London jazz community and its herds of exceptionally dexterous, accomplished, brilliant players and singers. His aspiration for the label is that it will inspire and empower those within the community and provide a platform for uncovering new artists and up-and-coming musicians, enabling them to not only hone and finesse their craft but to innovate, flourish and realise their full artistic potential, ultimately shaping the future of music beyond genres, genders and borders.

Banger Factory Records is thrilled to announce the release of Pete Horsfall’s album Electric Relaxation!

“Electric Relaxation represents my continuing and passionate engagement with the entire continuum of jazz - past, present and future. For the first time on record, I’m excited to present my blending of traditional techniques with live electronics and ambient soundscapes, reimagining the role of the trumpet in a quartet setting.” - Pete Horsfall

Electric Relaxation playfully demonstrates the breadth of Pete’s musical
curiosity, drawing from compositions by Duke Ellington (The Mooche, Lady of the
Lavender Mist) and Billy Strayhorn (Azure) alongside Mobb Deep (Shook Ones)
and MF Doom (Beef Rapp, Raid, Winter Blues) to create an album that feels
steeped in tradition yet completely contemporary.

This collaborative effort with Marcina Arnold is all about unwinding, embracing life’s joys, and melting stress away.

Kinetika Bloco: Live From The Vaults is out now!!

‘Releasing another Kinetika Bloco album on Banger Factory Records is a dream come true. It’s where my journey began, and KB will always hold a special place in my heart.

Their first release Legacy (2021) was a celebration of the band’s founder, Mat Fox, and featured a reunion of alumni. ‘Live from the Vaults’ is special as it showcases various Kinetika Bloco formations from 2004 to 2018, with different lineups - Live. Some with Mat and the continuation and growth after he passed, all on one record. It’s amazing to hear so many incredible and talented musicians in their younger days,
showcasing their early development and artistry. Such as Kaidi Akinnibi, Shayanna Dyer-Harris, Misha Fox, Jermaine Amissah, Richie Seivwright, Marlon Hibbert, Sheila Maurice Grey, Femi Koleoso, Ruben Fox and many more including myself. You can hear a young Kavuma going for it on ‘Satta Massagana’.

Kinetika Bloco was founded on the idea that music is the language in which the spirit of community speaks infusing the community with joy, awareness and compassion. Giving countless young artists an opportunity to collaborate in exuberant, life- affirming music-making.

As Ruben Fox Says so beautifuly in his liner notes: To the Kinetika Bloco family: this is for you! Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Kinetika Bloco: Live From The Vaults - Out this Friday 15th August 2025

Their debut album ‘Legacy’ (2021) celebrated the work of Kinetika Bloco, a London based music charity founded in 2000 by the late musician, composer and educator Matthew John Fox, known to all as Mat, in collaboration with Ali Pretty (Kinetika Art Links International).

Much has been said of the music that has come out of London from around the mid-2010’s to the present day. Among the wave of groups (that include Ezra Collective, Kokoroko, Mark Kavuma, Theon Cross and MANY more) that have enjoyed success and brought the energy of London’s diverse soundscape to the world, there lies an underscore.

Enter Kinetika Bloco; A sprawling 150 piece carnival expression of unique character and undeniable influence.

As KB celebrate 25 years, Ruben Fox ,son of Mat Fox has delved into the vaults to look back and reflect on some of KB’s classic themes and pieces. Themes such as Space is The Place: An Afro-Futuristic exploration of the work of Sun Ra & Duke Ellington, Roads to Freedom: A collection of protest music centred around the struggle for freedom in apartheid South Africa & Imagination Our Nation; A 5 year project which explored a diversity of music from Celtic folk to Detroit Funk.

This upcoming album features a collection of gems captured live over the years. The purpose of this collection is to bring light to this groups work and enjoy some highlights of Kinetika Bloco’s recorded history.
