During our latest research on festival projects, we explored diverse approaches to designing open-air music festival arenas and their sub-areas for live music sets. This inquiry led us to a compelling intersection of music, landscape, and spatial experience —the concept of a beach music festival designed as an organic extension of its surroundings.

The layout of such a space is not merely functional; it is meant to embrace the natural topography, shaping a smooth interaction between the and its environment. Winding paths, undulating dunes, and resilient coastal vegetation invite festival-goers to navigate the terrain intuitively, leading them toward the main stage—a focal point where the vast horizon becomes an intrinsic part of the visual and experience.

Beyond spatial arrangement, acoustics play a pivotal role in the festival’s design. The natural elements of the landscape influence how sound is experienced.

1. act as organic sound barriers, directing music toward the audience while reducing noise pollution beyond the event space.
2. The 's reflective surface amplifies and disperses sound, ensuring an immersive listening experience that extends beyond the immediate crowd.
3. pavement enhances festival acoustics by naturally absorbing sound and reducing unwanted echoes, unlike hard surfaces that create harsh reflections. Its granular texture helps diffuse sound waves, ensuring clearer audio while minimizing noise buildup. Yet, the success of such a festival is not only defined by aesthetics and acoustics—it must also be sustainable.

Our approach integrates reclaimed materials, such as driftwood and locally sourced elements, such as native coastal plants minimizing environmental impact while enhancing the festival’s sense of place.

At its core, its design is about crafting a sensory journey. The rhythmic pulse of the music blends with the waves, wind, and textures of the sand, transforming the landscape into a dynamic, living stage—where the environment does not merely frame the experience but becomes an active participant in it.
