Our Neve 8068 freshly serviced 🔧
This absolute unit placed in the middle of the room is our Neve 8068. Many of you are already familiar with it. It has 64 channels and is gorgeous. Maintaining a desk like this is no small feat, but worth every second when you 1) hear how it wraps any sound in warmth and clarity, and 2) know how much craftsmanship has gone into it, both at the mixing surface and under the hood.
The servicing spanned 8 weeks and was handled by the exceptional and , (with dutiful help from our own brilliant and .jpeg). It's now sounding as good as ever.
Photo no. 3 shows us baking the transformers in our lab oven (what self-respecting studio doesn’t have one?). The metal casings are filled with resin that insulates the windings, and when heated, some of that resin leaks out. Not the kind of bake you want to eat but it keeps the 64ch desk happy! And yes, something's off with photo no. 4 because we replaced the secret magic blueprints and schematics with treasure maps instead 🤫.
In short, our Neve 8068 () is the beating heart of RMV Studio and honestly, one of the biggest reasons the room feels the way it does.
