𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝟎-𝟎 𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐋

It was a thrilling, engrossing and enthralling Premier League encounter, albeit it did not produce a single goal as Manchester City and Arsenal shared the points in their huge title-chasing clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Arsenal defended doggedly away from home and were the happier of the two sides at the end of the match in a dramatic stalemate.

Neither Manchester City or Arsenal could land a telling blow in the Premier League title race on Sunday after a tense and cautious stalemate at the Etihad.
In a match where so much was expected of the attacking players on both sides, it was the two defences that were on top throughout.
Goalmouth action was at a premium. Nathan Ake mistimed a header from close range in the first half for City, while Gabriel Jesus just failed to connect with a low Bukayo Saka cross just after half-time.

A match marked by a lack of clear cut chances was summed up when a flicked on header went under the foot of Erling Haaland at the back post late in the second half.
The result means that Liverpool stay on top of the Premier League table. Arsenal trail by two points, with City a point behind them.

Brentford took another step away from the bottom three following a wasteful 1-1 draw with Manchester United at the Gtech Community Stadium

Mason Mount’s goal deep in stoppage time looked to have given Manchester United a smash-and-grab win over the dominant Bees, but Kristoffer Ajer scored moments later to restore level terms.

Cadiz defeated Granada 1-0 in a thrilling La Liga match at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium. The first half ended in a goalless draw, with both teams fighting hard for possession and creating chances, but were unable to score. The second half started with a victory: on 51 minutes Cadiz took the lead and R. Navarro scored the decisive goal to put his team ahead. Granada tried to get back on track, but despite their best efforts they were unable to equalise. Several yellow cards were shown in the match, and players from both teams received warnings for flagrant offences and behaviour on the pitch.

Last night the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid hosted an enthralling encounter between Spain and Brazil. The spoils were shared as two of the brightest young talents in world football stole the show and the match ended in a 3-3 draw.

Lamine Yamal, who we must remind ourselves is just 16 years old, was arguably the man of the match, He operated on the right wing for Spain up until a standing ovation saw him leave the field in the 92nd minute. He had been threatening all game and showed some electric pace down the flank.

Yamal, who has burst onto the scene with F.C Barcelona this season, had absolutely no fear when taking on the Brazil backline. In fact, he thrived on it. It felt like every single time he got the ball he beat a man and made something happen, and he was enjoying it. The crowd were on the edge of their seats and the young man made a big impression against famous opposition. To do so at 16 is simply frightening.

Spain opened the scoring in the 12th minute through a Rodri penalty that Yamal had won after dancing around the Brazil defence, eventually being hauled down before he could try and unleash a strike himself. Spain were dominant in the first half and added a second through Dani Olmo in the 36th minute; it was a superb individual effort with a clinical finish.

Wales suffered heartbreak in their first-ever penalty shoot-out as Poland booked their place at Euro 2024 after a goalless 120 minutes.

Spot-kicks were needed on a tense evening in which Ben Davies had a first-half header disallowed for offside but chances were scarce in this play-off final.

Wales were reduced to 10 in the final seconds as Chris Mepham was banished for a second yellow card and Cardiff City Stadium held its breath following an impromptu rendition of the national anthem.

Poland converted five perfect penalties with Robert Lewandowski, Sebastian Szymanski, Przemyslaw Frankowski, Nicola Zalewski and Krzysztof Piątek successful against Danny Ward.

But Daniel James saw his effort pushed out by Wojciech Szczesny as Wales lost 5-4 on penalties and wild Polish celebrations began.

Florian Wirtz scored Germany's fastest international goal after seven seconds as the Euro 2024 hosts earned a confidence-boosting 2-0 friendly victory over France to bag their first win in their last four games.

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann was desperate for a good start to the year ahead of the tournament on home soil in June and that is exactly what he got.

Wirtz surprised the French with his long-range effort for his first international goal after a well-practised move and pass from Toni Kroos, back from a three-year international retirement.

* Germany impress in France to win friendly
* Wirtz scores after seven seconds to put Germany in front

Israel’s hopes of reaching Euro 2024 are over after the team suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Iceland in Thursday’s playoff semifinal.

The game began well for Israel as Eran Zahavi, the national team’s all-time record goalscorer, broke the deadlock from the penalty spot just after the half-hour mark.

However, two quick goals from Albert Guðmundsson and Arnór Ingvi Traustason ensured Iceland went into the half-time break with the lead.
