When we first moved to Canada, we always notice things that were missing.
After living in Singapore for many years, there were a lot of things we had to adjust to.
We missed how easy and fast everything was.
In Singapore, buses came every 1 or 2 minutes.
Here, especially on weekends, we sometimes had to wait 30 minutes standing in the cold, with snow falling, and it’s -10°C (not to mention the feels like)
We also missed the food.
In Singapore, I could eat something tasty and local and has a lot of variety
Here, the choices aren’t the same.
Everything felt slower. Simpler. Maybe even too simple.
At first, we kept comparing life here to life in Singapore.
But slowly, we started to see what makes Canada special.
The serenity of the lake.
The sound of birds in the morning.
The big mountains and peaceful lakes.
The sky full of stars when you go camping.
Canada’s beauty doesn’t shout. It’s calm. It takes time to notice.
We realized different places have different kinds of beauty.
And when you stop comparing, you start to appreciate what’s around you.
Bonne fête du Canada ! 🇨🇦🍁
