Leadership isn’t about titles or authority.
It’s about presence.
It’s about creating an environment where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
The best leaders today?
They don’t pretend to have all the answers.
They ask better questions.
They lead with empathy.
They choose courage over control.
Let’s stop managing for compliance and start leading for connection.

Mick Spiers extends his heartfelt thanks to Gerald Calibo for this thoughtful and honest reflection on You're a Leader, Now What?

Gerald shared that he had previously been disappointed by similar leadership books—but this one came with five unexpected surprises: its clarity, its relatability, its realism, its deep psychological insights, and its practical guidance on self-mastery.

His words echo the core message of the book: leadership isn’t about being extraordinary—it’s about recognizing the leader within.

At The Leadership Project, we believe leadership is not a title — it's a journey. And every month brings new insights, new challenges, and new opportunities to grow.

As we wrap up July, here are three lessons that echoed loudly for us:

1️⃣ You won’t be for everyone — and that’s okay.
Sometimes the harshest words come from those who were never invested in your mission to begin with. Not every critic deserves your energy. Stay true to your values.
2️⃣ Consistency builds trust.
We’ve learned (again) that real impact doesn’t come from viral moments — it comes from showing up, again and again, even when no one’s watching.
3️⃣ You don’t have to lead alone.
Leadership can feel isolating, but it doesn't have to be. Surround yourself with people who challenge you, uplift you, and remind you that you’re not in this journey alone.

We’d love to hear from you:
👉 What did July teach you as a leader?

Drop your reflections below — let’s learn together.

“We often don’t recognize our privilege. We see what we don’t have but not the rooms we’re already in, or the voices we could be advocating for.” — Kelli Lester

This one stopped me in my tracks.

Inclusion isn’t just about who’s missing from the table. It’s about how we use our seat at that table.

In this episode, Kelli breaks down what it really means to lead inclusively and how to shift from good intentions to intentional action.

Whether you’re leading a team, a project, or a movement, this is the reminder we all need.

Early risers may seem productive, but it's easy to fall into the "like me" trap – favoring those who mirror ourselves. Self-awareness is key to inclusive leadership, helping us check unintentional biases. Are you self-aware?

Are you setting others up for success—or failure? Advice that worked yesterday may not work today. It's about hiring for the company, not creating a mini-me, and empowering individual aspirations. See it in the outcomes.

“Inclusive leadership is our ability to be self-aware—and then lead with everyone else in mind.” — Kelli Lester

This week on The Leadership Project, Mick speaks with Kelli Lester, a global DEI strategist and inclusive leadership consultant.

Here’s what leaders will take away from this powerful conversation:
🧠 Why self-awareness is the foundation of inclusion
🎯 How to intentionally challenge your own biases
🧭 The seven actionable traits of inclusive leaders
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Why listening to difference isn’t enough—and what it really means to amplify others
🚀 What it takes to co-create psychologically safe, innovative teams across generational lines

Kelli doesn’t just talk about inclusion—she gives leaders the tools to embed it into culture, coaching, and outcomes.

Listen now and take one small action that creates a ripple effect.
