That is why the bond feels so strong and so heavy at the same time. A dog carries your heart with them, gently and completely. And even when they are gone, the space they filled never really empties.

I remember the day my world ended.
My owner said I was too old to love… and left me behind at the shelter. I watched them walk away, my heart breaking with every step they took. 💔
The cage was cold, the lights too bright, and the silence too heavy. I waited for days, hoping they’d remember me — that maybe I’d hear my name again. But no one came. My food went untouched, my tail stayed still. I just wanted to go home.
Now I lie here quietly, listening to the sound of doors opening for other dogs. I don’t bark. I don’t cry anymore. I just wait — for someone who will look past my gray face and see a heart that still loves
