Should I Fit New Tyres To The Front Or Rear Of My Car?

The bulk of cars on the road today are front-wheel drive, which means that their front tyres tend to wear out much faster than the ones at the rear.

If you’ve ever wondered why this happens, it’s largely due to two things: the front wheels handle the bulk of the traction, steering, cornering, and braking forces, while also bearing the extra weight of the engine and transmission.

So naturally, when it’s time to replace those tyres, a lot of drivers instinctively believe that the new ones should go on the front. And I get why; it seems like the logical choice, doesn’t it? The front wheels do all the hard work, after all, so they should get the best grip, right?

Well, not exactly. There’s actually a safer way to go about this.

Pirelli has obtained over 500 homologations for its Elect tyres since they first rolled out in 2019.

The new ZE320 drops the ‘Ecorun’ suffix, but this tyre is more environmentally friendly than ever. The first twelve sizes are set to hit Europe in early summer 2024, with another 48 sizes coming by spring 2025.

The new ZE320 is produced in Turkey using a more environmentally friendly filler derived from rice husks. Falken and its parent company Sumitomo Rubber Industries have drawn on over 30 years of silica research to pull off this feat. Typically, silica is extracted from special types of sand, but Falken has found a way to use rice husks, an abundant agricultural by-product.

BMW and Pirelli have developed an eco-friendly and more efficient winter tyre.

This partnership has given birth to the 20-inch P Zero Winter 2 tyres, specifically designed for the BMW 7 Series.

With an “A class” European label for rolling resistance, these tyres extend the vehicle’s range by up to 50km compared to standard winter tyres.

These tyres come with the BMW-specific Star-Mark, a badge of honour that guarantees they meet BMW’s rigorous standards for quality and performance.

Beyond the grip and durability in snowy conditions, the thread pattern has been refined for optimal performance on cold, wet, and slippery surfaces.

It’s the closing two weeks of the “Bridgestone Rivals: Race to the Top”competition.

Continental and Brabus have partnered together to test the new MaxContact MC7 tyre.

Testing was done at Continental’s prestigious Contidrom testing facility, using the Brabus 750 Bodo Buschmann Edition – one of only 25 in existence.

The tyres were wrung thoroughly, demonstrating their ability to handle the enormous 900Nm of torque of the Brabus 750, equipped with 275/35R21 tyres at the front and a beefy 315/30R21 at the rear.
