DISNEY DESTINY RIVER EMS CONVEYANCE

A few weeks after Disney Cruise Line's was floated out of Meyer Werft Papenburg's Dockhall 6, the newest member of the Disney fleet has been put through the bends of the River Ems, as she was conveyed by tugboats from the yard to the open sea on Saturday!

The River Ems Conveyance is unique to the shipbuilding process to the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany! As the shipyard is located approximately 32 kilometres from the coast, all ships built at the inland shipyard have to be towed down the River Ems to reach open sea.

The transit time usually takes anywhere from 8 to 10 hours, as the convoy transits the river at approximately 1.5 knots. That's around 2.8 km/h, or at walking speed! The ship is also towed stern-first (backwards) to keep the propellers in the centre of the river bank to prevent damage.

Ships that have also been through the process include Genting Dream, Star Navigator, Spectrum of the Seas, and many, many more!

A few days ago, Disney Cruise Line was moved from the Columbus Cruise Terminal in Bremerhaven, to the inner harbour.

With the help of tugboats, the 342-metre long Disney Adventure squeezed through the Kaiserschleuse - a historic sea lock that helps maintain water depth within the harbour during low-tide conditions. The move was done at night, as the lock can only be opened at high tide, when the water levels inside and outside become equal.

Now that she's safely in the harbour, Disney Adventure's outfitting work can now continue, bringing her closer to her revised March 2026 maiden voyage.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN CELEBRATES KEEL LAYING OF 4TH ICON-CLASS VACATION

At the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, the first Keel block for Royal Caribbean International's FOURTH Icon-Class has been laid at a Keel-Laying Ceremony on 8th September 2025. This marks the start of the ship's assembly, where the various blocks will be joined to form the hull and superstructure of the ship.

As per maritime tradition, a set of "Lucky Coins", freshly-minted for the occasion, was placed on the wooden blocks the keel block would rest upon. The next time the coins will be seen would be when ship is launched (float-out).

Icon 4, which is currently known by her Yard Number NB-1403, will be ready in 2027. The ship's name has not been revealed, yet!

After departing Wismar, Disney Cruise Line underwent a series of test trials before making a refueling stop in Mukran.

She set sail on 4 September 2025 and has since arrived off the coast of Skagen. After a brief period at anchor, Disney Adventure was put through a series of tests in deeper water.

Update! (06/09/2025, 0900):
Automatic Identification System (AIS) Data of Disney Adventure's past track in the last 24 hours indicates the ship has been pushing speeds as high as 25 knots, in what we can assume are speed trials. She can also be seen executing a 360° turn, typical of a turning circle test.

Her next destination is Bremerhaven, where further work will be carried out to complete additional interior and exterior fittings.

LEGEND OF THE SEAS FLOAT-OUT: Another Legendary Milestone!

At the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, Royal Caribbean International's brand-new has achieved another milestone - launching, or the float-out of the ship!

In an almost 20-hour process, Legend of the Seas' drydock was flooded, and the 365-metre long ship was moved to the outfitting quay by four tugboats. It marks the end of the structural assembly of the ship, and the beginning of the ship's Final Outfitting - where the bare steel walls and empty spaces are transformed into the onboard experiences we all love!

Legend of the Seas is scheduled to be delivered in August 2026. Sailing from Barcelona, Spain, Legend will embark on 7-Night summer vacations to the Western Mediterranean.

From there, she will head into the North Sea for a full week of testing. Once complete, the vessel will continue on to Bremerhaven, where final outfitting will take place in preparation for a second round of sea trials scheduled for late September—bringing her one step closer to delivery.
