Marami ang hindi nakakaalam kung bakit big deal ang pangalan ng Stronghold Insurance Company sa issue ng mga Discaya at mga umano’y ghost flood control projects.

Kapag ang isang kontraktor ay kukuha ng proyekto mula sa gobyerno, required silang mag-submit ng bond — ito ang garantiya na matatapos nila ang proyekto.

Dito papasok ang mga insurance company tulad ng Stronghold.
- Sila ang naglalabas ng bond bilang “paninindigan” na kung palpak ang kontraktor o hindi tinapos ang proyekto, sila ang sasalo sa pananagutan.
- Sa bawat bond, kumikita sila ng premium fees.

Sa kaso ng mga Discaya, ang nag-issue ng bond ay ang Stronghold Insurance — at ayon sa mga ulat, ang executive director nito ay si Edna Marcoleta, asawa ni Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.

Kaya kung mapatunayang may anomalya o hindi natapos ang proyekto, hindi lang ang Discaya ang tinitingnan — pati ang Stronghold ay puwedeng managot.

When we give too much of ourselves to someone who doesn’t value it, we unknowingly teach them to take our presence for granted.
