40.DAY 2025 • DAY 24

“If we are genuinely thinking about an ‘All In’ Church, if we are sincere about including all into the church, then we must learn to welcome people with special needs.

“Have we, the Church, told people with special needs that we have no need of them? Have we – through the words we say, the looks that we give, or the way we worship – told them ‘I have no need of you’?”

– Rev Leow Wen Pin, Chairman, Board of Management, Koinonia Inclusion Network (KIN).

Andrew Kwan is a pleasant, easy-going man who loves music, long walks, soaking in the pool and hanging out with people who visit him at home.

“He gets very excited and noisy and very happy,” says his big sister, Esther Kwan, the Principal of ACS (Academy), Singapore's fifth ASD-NC (Autism Spectrum Disorder-National Curriculum) Special Education school.

At 38, Andrew has never gone out by himself or bought a burger for himself. Nor has he been able to sing along to his favourite song. He is severely handicapped intellectually, having been diagnosed with septo-optic dysplasia and microcephaly. Simply put, he was born with a portion of his brain missing.

“I get asked a lot, ‘What would it be like if you didn’t have a brother with special needs?’ But we don’t know any different. This is normal to us. It just means that my brother has more needs.”

“As our country prepares itself for a silver tsunami, what is the response of the Church and Christians?
“Will we approach this in a posture of apprehension and helplessness, or shall we see this as God’s open window of opportunity and impact on our nation and our seniors?
“What is the Lord impressing upon our hearts to be All In for our seniors in Singapore?”

– Dr Kenny Tan, CEO, St Luke’s Eldercare; Senior Pastor, Zion Gospel Mission

Everything always runs like clockwork on Sunday mornings.

But when COVID hit, many of these workers – who fall into the “administration” side of church, working quietly behind the scenes – was thrust into the spotlight.

This church administration group calls itself Bao Ka Liao (a Hokkien term meaning “do it all”), reflecting its all-encompassing role.

40.DAY 2025 • DAY 22

“In Joshua 14, 85-year-old Caleb was nearing his own finish line when Joshua was parcelling out the inheritances to God’s people.

“Senior Caleb boldly stepped forward and asked: “Give me this mountain!”
Not the easy plains or manicured gardens, but “Give me this hill country!” Wow!

“What stirred him to sense that there was more? What bothered him enough to step forward and boldly ask: ‘Give me this mountain!’?”

– Pastor Eugene Seow, Board Chairman, Antioch 21

She was 19, an undergraduate who was a “very committed Christian”. She went to church regularly, attended a cell group and served in Sunday School.

“But she came into my clinic in tears," said Dr P Buvanaswari, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist with Promises Healthcare, at the recent Christian Mental Health Conference 2025.

"When I asked her what brought her here, she said: ‘You know, I keep wanting to go and be with Jesus faster.’ She was basically saying, in a very indirect way, that she was contemplating su*cide.

“A lot of them come to me and say, ‘What’s wrong with me? Am I a bad Christian? Why is it that I haven’t been able to get out of this myself?’”

Our youths are suffering mentally. What can we do?

40.DAY 2025 • DAY 21

“How are your gifts and abilities different from your spiritual gifts? How do they complement your spiritual gifts? How can you give God’s gift back to God for His glory? How can you steward that gift with excellence for God’s pleasure? Are there untapped talents that you could use to reflect God’s glory out in the world beyond church walls?”

– Greg Vijayendran, Chairman, Law Christian Fellowship; Chairman, Prison Fellowship Singapore

Many of our churches are focused on discipling children of current members, but what about those outside our walls?

Church leaders and children's ministers, is there a new work that God is calling you to do today?

“Would you arise and build?” asks Pastor Norman Ng, Senior Pastor of 3:16 Church at LoveSingapore’s Winning the Children conference.

40.DAY 2025 • DAY 20

“Thirty years ago when I came out of prison, a preacher was preaching, and he gave an altar call. I came to the front and I told God: ‘I have no education. I don't have skill. All my skills are illegal activities. But I think, God, if this new life can glorify Your name, I surrender to you.’

“From nothing, just because of my obedience to God to following His commandments, today I have all things.”

– Rev Don Wong, Founder and Executive Director, The New Charis Mission

40.DAY 2025 • DAY 19

“I hear from a lot of Singaporeans: ‘Oh, I felt like God is saying to tell someone, ‘Jesus loves you’ but I didn't do it. I didn't dare to do it. I was afraid that I could be wrong.’

Regret is going to last for a lifetime, because your whole life you will be asking yourself: ‘What could have happened? Maybe that person got born again, maybe the person got healed.’”

– Pastor Jeff Yuen, Senior Pastor, Soakability Church

In Chinatown lies a little hawker stall with big intentions. This wanton noodle business is a social enterprise that gives employment to ex-offenders while providing opportunities for the Gospel to be shared through conversations with customers and other hawkers.

Run by four friends, God has used New Hope Noodles to show His light to others and His might to the men who founded the business.
