Recent weeks have seen parts of Asia battered by violent typhoons and freak storms. Watching from Singapore, it is only natural to wonder: will Singapore ever face a typhoon?

Recent weeks have seen Asia battered by violent typhoons and freak storms. The Philippines, Taiwan, southern China, and parts of Vietnam have faced devastating winds, torrential rain, and flooding that displaced millions. Watching from Singapore, it is...

As things are getting more and more expensive in Singapore, buying an atas mooncake is one form of luxury we can actually afford since it comes only once a year.

As we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, it’s also important to consider the environmental impact of mooncake packaging.

As we celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, numerous ads for fancy mooncakes start to fill our social media timelines, malls, and almost everywhere you look. Traditional mooncakes of the yesteryears were focused on the flavours and came in simple boxes, but...

While new entrants keep consumer choice wide, the rapid loss of independents and heritage names erodes the civic fabric those places supported — the third places, the cultural memory, and the everyday encounters that quietly make Singapore our food city.

Singapore’s dining scene — long touted as a global food capital where hawker stalls, neighbourhood cafés and inventive fine-dining all coexist — has been going through a reckoning. The last 18 months have seen an unusually high number of permanent...

While the piggy biscuit and cage are rather cute representatives of the Mid-Autumn Festival, people in rural China during the Ming and Qing dynasties used to place adulterers in pig cages to drown them.

How did caged pigs become so popular as a wholesome family celebration?

Known as piggy biscuits, mooncake biscuits or doll biscuits (which is a direct translation of its Cantonese name, "gong zai beng"), they're only available whenever mooncakes are on sale. And usually in the lead up to Mid-Autumn Festival. These biscuits...

The final frontier just became a final resting place for the wealthy.

For up to S$158,000, Woodlands Memorial can pack your loved one’s ashes (or keepsakes) into a Space Box and launch them into outer space.

It’s Singapore’s first funeral parlour to offer cosmic farewells, and you get options: let the box orbit Earth for a few weeks (before re-entering our atmosphere in fiery glory), land it on the moon, or send it on a one-way trip into deep space — because why not make the afterlife interstellar?

What is Campus?

You may have seen us around – in your school, libraries and even cafes. We bet you are wondering – so who are we really?

Well, Campus Magazine is a bi-monthly publication for tertiary students – distributed free across all of Singapore’s universities, polytechnics, IB institutions, art colleges, and junior colleges.

We are rich in student-oriented content, which means we have dozens of contributors submitting articles on an array of topics from international education & travelogues, to feature stories on a hot topic, to the local happenings at any time. From print to the website, basically, we cover the fun stuff and balance it with the serious stuff!

If you’re interested in joining our team as a contributor/intern, would like to advertise with us, or simply have any queries, feel free to send us an email at any time! (We don’t bite!)
