My boot drive SSD died on me over a few days back, it woukd just freeze on startup, go into automatic repair, then freeze again.
Got in touch with Aftershock, got myself a new workstation (to be fair, this one has lasted 5 years), reinstalled all my apps, but problem was, my DaVinci Resolve project files still reside in the faulty boot drive SSD, which was diagnosed at 44% health (anything below 85% - 90% is usually quite a goner), and even just normally plugging in the drive to a working PC as an external drive, it would disconnect whenever I try to copy files off it.
There were at least 3 major projects stuck on the faulty drive, which had I tried to do over, would take weeks, months to get to where they were left off, and I had a live edit session and deliverables within early next week. So I thought, I need data recovery, if even possible.
Accplus, along with 3verhigher and datarecoveryco came up at the top searches, and Accplus was the only one whose website was down-to-earth, personable - on Saturday morning, I gave all 3 a call over phone/WhatsApp (only Accplus was WhatsApp-able because the other two were office numbers), and Accplus' Louis was the first to reply, and he was very willing to hear the details of my drive's issues and diagnosis so far, and he was available on short notice, that I could bring the drive down today to get diagnosed, gave an estimated time frame (15 mins), and a good quote which was payable only on successful data recovery.
3verhigher being the only other reply, only answered on my second call, and at first said data recovery was very low chance (which they corrected to say 60% in a follow up WhatsApp), and it will take at least till next Tuesday to get diagnosed.
Accplus is located in a neighbourhood, and walking in, it is a simple but professional shop surrounded by hard drives and all the necessary equipment like soldering kits, even a clean room, and importantly, professional data recovery devices, clearly the reliable workshop of a passionate data recovery enthusiast and professional.
Long story short, putting my faulty SSD in just his $5,000 data recovery machine (and more intensive $20,000 one was sitting nearby), through a mix of imaging, assessment and recovery, my SSD never once disconnected, and all my projects and alot more were recovered - he was patient, he talked me through what was going on, he kept asking if I wanted to try more files since I was here - the experience was excellent, I felt like priority, and most importantly, it saved me.hours and days of repeat work, and recovery happened right on day of enquiry itself, when I thought all hope was lost.
Accplus, highly recommended, very trusted, I will only return to Louis if I ever had such a need again.
