Oil and Gas World Welcome to the World of Oil and Gas. Everyone is welcome. OilandGas.World was established in 2019.

However, as an idea, it was conceptualised much earlier when we realised that there's a lack of industry voices, especially when compared with the strong media coverage and powerful lobbying from the Renewable Industry. We felt that the Oil and Gas Industry as a collective do not wield the same influence on mass media and social media, and that could be crucial in terms of businesses sustainabilit

y and factual awareness to societies at large, and that is how we came up with the idea of uniting and voicing our perspectives to the world. We knew that when something untoward happened in our industry, the scale and the implications could be massive, be it loss of personal life and environmental damages, however, the industry has evolved far beyond simply the pursue of profits. The industry has improved much along with the development of technology. A more safety-and-environmental conscious has been distilled in newer generations and HSE has been one of the KPI in most, and if not all companies, from oil companies, to services and contractors. We also felt that there is a lack of social media outreach whereby we could work with societies, businesses and governments at large, in order to understand the industry better.

The Angolan National Petroleum, Gas, and Biofuels Agency (ANPG Angola) and Azule Energy have announced the successful start-up and oil production of the Agogo FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading Unit) this Tuesday, the 29th. This is the centerpiece of the Agogo Integrated West Hub (Agogo IWH) project, offshore Angola, which involves the development of two fields, Agogo and Ndungu, in the West Hub of Block 15/06.

Agogo Integrated West Hub, operated by Azule Energy with a 36.84% stake in partnership with Sonangol P&P (36.84%) and Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation (26.32%), is expected to substantially increase production in Angola's energy landscape. The Agogo field, together with Ndungu, has estimated reserves of approximately 450 million barrels and a projected peak production of 175,000 barrels/day, produced by two FPSOs (Agogo and Ngoma).

Approved in February 2023, the Agogo IWH project will begin production in just 29 months, setting new benchmarks for the industry. This result was made possible by a phased development approach, which allowed progress with ex*****on while simultaneously conducting appraisal activities, significantly reducing the risks of fully exploiting the field.

At a time when the negative effects of carbon emissions on the environment are widely discussed, Agogo has the distinction of being a "green" FPSO. The entire topside and offshore systems were designed to be fully electric. The FPSO features a pilot carbon capture and storage (CCUS) unit to recover remaining CO2, making it a pioneer in Angola and worldwide with this type of technology on a pilot scale. Additionally, the FPSO features combined cycle power generation.

Azule Energy has a daily production above 200,000 barrels of oil. In Namibia, Azule holds a 42.5% stake in Block 2914A (PEL85) and collaborates closely with partners to explore and develop resources in the prospective Orange Basin, the company further said.

ExxonMobil Guyana has started production at Yellowtail, the fourth oil development in Guyana’s offshore Stabroek block. Yellowtail’s ONE GUYANA floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel joins the Destiny, Unity, and Prosperity FPSOs, bringing total installed capacity in Guyana to above 900,000 barrels of oil per day.

“Yellowtail’s ahead-of-schedule startup is a significant milestone for ExxonMobil and the people of Guyana,” said Dan Ammann, president of ExxonMobil Upstream Company. “With Guyanese making up more than 67% of the country’s oil-and-gas workforce and over 2,000 local businesses engaged, this project reflects our deepening roots in the country and our shared commitment to long-term, inclusive growth.”

The ONE GUYANA is the largest FPSO on the Stabroek block to date with an initial annual average production of 250,000 bopd and a storage capacity of two million barrels. Oil produced from the FPSO will be marketed as Golden Arrowhead crude.

By 2030, ExxonMobil Guyana expects to have total production capacity of 1.7 million oil equivalent barrels per day from eight developments.

ExxonMobil Guyana’s deepwater developments are the most successful in the world. In five years, the company has started up four complex offshore mega-projects under budget and ahead of schedule – while simultaneously advancing plans for four additional projects by the end of the decade.

ExxonMobil Guyana Limited operates the Stabroek block and holds a 45% interest, with Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holding 30%, and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited holding 25%.

Seatrium Limited (“Seatrium” or “the Group”) has announced the impending delivery of the PETROBRAS 78 (P-78) – the first of a series of turnkey Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO), to Brazil’s National Oil Company, Petroleo Brasileiro S.A (Petrobras).

The sailaway ceremony took place two weeks ago at Seatrium’s Singapore yard, marking a significant and timely milestone. Upon delivery, the P-78 will be deployed in Brazil’s prolific Buzios field, the largest deepwater oil field globally, with an impressive production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd), 7.2 million cubic metres (mcbm) of gas per day, and a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of oil. The P-78 will rank among the largest in the global operating fleet of FPSOs.

Seatrium’s global teams have fabricated the topside modules weighing an impressive 54,000 MT across its shipyards in Singapore, China and Brazil, in addition to the integration and commissioning works of the P-78 FPSO in Singapore. Upon completion, the P-78 will transit to the Buzios field, where Seatrium will conduct the final phase of offshore commissioning works.

Santos Ltd has announced the arrival of the BW Opal FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) vessel at the Barossa gas field approximately 285 km north of Darwin on Sunday 15 June 2025, marking a critical milestone on the path to first gas in the third quarter of 2025. The FPSO has since been successfully hooked up, and final commissioning activities are progressing to plan.

The FPSO is the production centrepiece of Santos’ Barossa LNG project. Santos and its joint venture partners, SK E&S and JERA Co., Inc. have invested US$3.95 billion (A$6.07 billion at today’s rates) on the Barossa LNG project to date, which is now in the final stages of commissioning.

Five wells of the six-well program have now been drilled with the fifth well being prepared for flow testing. The final well is expected to be completed in the third quarter. Production from three wells can deliver full production rates at the Darwin LNG plant if required. The 262 km Gas Export Pipeline and 123 km Darwin Pipeline Duplication are complete, in addition to subsea infrastructure required for first gas.

“The arrival of the BW Opal FPSO into the Barossa field and commencement of hook up and commissioning is a significant milestone for Santos and its Barossa LNG joint venture partners. The project has come a long way since regulator acceptance of the Offshore Project Proposal in 2018. The project remains on track for first gas in the third quarter of 2025, and within the original cost guidance, which is a remarkable achievement. Barossa is a world class asset and, together with the Pikka phase one project in Alaska, is expected to deliver a 30 per cent increase in production over the next eighteen months or so compared to 2024. These projects will set the company up with long-term, stable cash flows to underpin compelling shareholder returns,” Santos Managing Director and Chief Executive Office Kevin Gallagher said.
