For Cruise 2027, Gucci staged a runway takeover in the heart of New York City’s Times Square, delivering a collection that felt less like a spectacle and more like a meaningful homecoming to the city that hosted the brand's first boutique outside of Italy. Dubbed "Guccicore," Creative Director Demna Gvasalia’s collection serves as a vivid cross-section of diverse New York fashion codes, translating everyday subcultures into luxury pieces.
The runway featured a mix of local archetypes—from sharp pinstriped suits for the corporate elite and heavy shearling coats for midtown regulars, to slouchy denim for skaters and immaculate evening gowns for socialites. The focus lay in elevating these familiar street silhouettes through fine craftsmanship, utilizing croc-scale sequins, beaded fringe, and feather embroidery, while also playing with heritage by structurally transforming the house's iconic 1950s Web stripe into a minimalist bandeau top. Ultimately, "Guccicore" marks a unifying climax for Demna, weaving together his past collections into a permanent, pragmatic wardrobe that demonstrates how contemporary fashion is rooted in how people actually dress.
