According to CBS News, residents in the area are questioning why no evacuation was ordered in the two hours between the reported gas leak and the explosion, especially since PG&E already knew there was a gas leak.

PG&E said it does not carry out evacuations and that the responsibility lies with first responders.

However, the Alameda County Fire Department said it did not evacuate the neighborhood because, when its crews arrived, PG&E told them the department’s assistance was not needed.

The Ministry of Law also said that Singh confirmed that he accepted the court’s judgment in the dismissal of his appeal “fully and without reservation,” and “rightly acknowledged that it is unacceptable for politicians to question or impugn the integrity of the Courts," and welcomed these comments.
